VCU<\/a> transfer guard Terrence Hill Jr.<\/a> will visit Tennessee<\/a> basketball next week, a source with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed to GoVols247.<\/p>\n

Hill is coming off a breakout sophomore season in which he led VCU in\u00a0points per game (15.0) and\u00a0made\u00a0three-pointers\u00a0(81).\u00a0He\u00a0only made two starts, but played in all 36 games to win A-10 Sixth Man of the Year. He also received A-10 First Team honors.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard\u00a0shot 46.6% overall, 37% from\u00a0three and 84.4% at the free-throw line. Hill\u00a0added 2.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.6 steals in 25.0 minutes per game.<\/p>\n

Hill’s breakout season came after he\u00a0averaged just 3.4 points, 0.6 rebounds and o.3 assists in 23 games as a freshman. He\u00a0shot 44.6% from the floor, 34.4% from three and was a\u00a0perfect 17-for-17\u00a0at the free-throw line \u2013 the most makes without a miss in VCU single-season history \u2014 during the 202425 season.<\/p>\n

The Portland,\u00a0Ore. native signed with VCU out of\u00a0Roosevelt High School\u00a0as an unranked prospect in the Class of 2024.\u00a0Hill\u00a0helped\u00a0lead Roosevelt to a 26-3 record, a district title, and an appearance in the 6A state championship game in 2023-24 when he averaged 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists as a senior.<\/p>\n

247Sports ranks Hill as the No. 17 overall prospect in the transfer portal and the No. 6 point guard.<\/p>\n

ROSTER OUTLOOK<\/p>\n

Tennessee has already received two commitments from guards out of the transfer portal this offseason. Belmont<\/a> transfer guard Tyler Lundblade<\/a> was the first to\u00a0commit to the Vols when he\u00a0announced\u00a0his decision April 1. Cal transfer guard Dai Dai Ames<\/a> was the second\u00a0to do so when he announced his commitment April 11.<\/p>\n

The Vols\u00a0still need guards after All-SEC point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie<\/a> and reserve guard Amaree Abram<\/a> graduated, and Bishop Boswell<\/a>, Amari Evans<\/a> and Clarence Massamba<\/a> elected to enter the transfer portal. Freshman point guard Troy Henderson<\/a> announced April 8 he\u00a0is returning for a second season with the Vols just over 24 hours after he initially indicated he was going to transfer. Sophomore guard Ethan Burg<\/a> has not announced whether he will return.<\/p>\n

Rick Barnes<\/a> is\u00a0looking to improve the team’s shooting in particular this offseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We’re going to have to shoot the ball better,” Barnes said after Tennessee lost in the Elite Eight for the third straight year. “There’s no doubt. We’ve got to shoot the ball better. We’re so inconsistent doing that.<\/p>\n

“We certainly know what it takes to get here.
