That’s all at least in part because Mustaf is a good athlete with a high-major body. He’s not one who pads his stats against lower level teams, and he’s built to succeed against physicality, length and athleticism.

Mustaf has never been a high-volume 3-point shooter and he probably won’t become that at his next stop. He did improve year-over-year in both attempt rate and make percentage. He was 11-32 (34.4%) as a freshman, and 21-54 (38.9%) as a sophomore. He did make 16-38 (42.1%) from three in ACC games, which was tenth-best in the league.

95.2% of his makes from three were assisted. Mustaf is respectable in open catch-and-shoot situations, but he isn’t likely to become a high-volume sniper who creates his own long-range attempts off the bounce and hunts contested shots from beyond the arc. Think situational Trey Galloway in 2022-23, when he made 46.2%.

Mustaf’s shooting percentages from two, three and the free throw line all improved from his freshman to sophomore year, as did his offensive and defensive rebounding rates, assist rate and turnover rate.

A physical, aggressive driver who seeks contact, Mustaf gets to the charity stripe often. He had 110 attempts in 2025-26. In ACC games, he ranked No. 23 in the league drawing 4.4 fouls per game. And his 49% conference free throw rate (FTA/FGA) was No. 10 in the league.

Mustaf also rebounded at a higher rate against top-50 competition, and his blocks and steals went up as well — more signs he’s built for the rigors of the Big Ten. The one area of concern as the competition level increases — his turnover rate also went up in those games.

Overall, Mustaf can clearly be a key contributor on a high major team. His precise role and playing time will be determined by who he’s surrounded by at the next stop and the system he plays in. But there’s a lot to work with here. Mustaf can be an important part of a good team.

SHOT CHARTS

(via CBB Analytics)

For complete coverage of IU basketball recruiting, GO HERE.

The Daily Hoosier –“Where Indiana fans assemble when they’re not at Assembly”

Related

Georgia Tech transfer Jaeden Mustaf recently completed a visit to Indiana, and the Hoosiers are expected to be…

[3724
7
0":"post-709428","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-basketball","8":"tag-basketball
["GET
