{"id":711755,"date":"2026-04-16T13:01:53","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T13:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/711755\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T13:01:53","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T13:01:53","slug":"2-pistons-have-their-careers-at-stake-in-the-playoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/711755\/","title":{"rendered":"2 Pistons have their careers at stake in the playoffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"inline-text-0\" class=\"mt-[18px] md:mt-0 mb-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"5i\">The Detroit Pistons have two pending free agents in Tobias Harris and Kevin Huerter who are key parts of the rotation heading into the playoffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"5l\">Harris has been\u00a0rock\u00a0solid as a starter for the Pistons, putting up the same steady numbers that he has for his entire career, while Huerter has <a href=\"https:\/\/pistonpowered.com\/kevin-huerter-making-detroit-pistons-fans-forget-biggest-loss-season\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">given Detroit a boost lately <\/a>with his movement shooting and playmaking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"5o\">Both players will be unrestricted free agents at the end of the\u00a0season,\u00a0and their careers could turn based on these playoffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tobias Harris is playing for a future role and a change in narrative\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"5u\">Harris has been great for the Pistons as an offensive security blanket and locker room presence who has undoubtedly been a big part of their success.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"5x\">His playoff <a href=\"https:\/\/pistonpowered.com\/tobias-harris-slapped-unfair-reputation-that-just-isn-t-true-detroit-pistons\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shortcomings are drastically overstated <\/a>and should cease to be a talking point after he had a solid showing against the Knicks last season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"60\">Another solid playoff performance would make people forget how things ended in Philly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"63\">He\u2019s\u00a0also playing for a future job with the Pistons or someone else. Harris is certain to get work, and I\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0be shocked if one of the young up and coming teams tried to poach him for the same reasons the Pistons did.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"66\">Harris adds consistency and professionalism, which are traits every young team needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"69\">I also\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0be surprised to see him back with the Pistons on a smaller deal, as he is still a productive and reliable player, and it would be great to see him end his career in Detroit, even if\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0as\u00a0a bench player in a smaller role.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6c\">If he has another solid\u00a0playoffs\u00a0with the Pistons making a deep run, I expect that\u00a0option\u00a0will be on the table, so this postseason is important for Harris.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Huerter gets a high-profile tryout\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-12\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6i\">Huerter is also playing for a future job, and just like Harris, it could be with the Pistons or somewhere else.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-13\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6l\">He was a guy who looked to be headed out of the league, or at least to the back of\u00a0someone\u2019s\u00a0bench as a minimum player, but he might have done enough with the Pistons to turn some heads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-14\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6o\">If Huerter keeps playing\u00a0like\u00a0has been lately, he could make the kind of impact that will boost his free-agent resume.
