Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors had two teams on his radar at the trade deadline amid Giannis Antetokounmpo trade talks. <\/p>\n

The last time the Golden State Warriors<\/a> had a head coach who wasn\u2019t Steve Kerr was before 2014. Draymond Green was there for two of those seasons.<\/p>\n

Following a disappointing end to the 2025-2026 NBA<\/a> season, Kerr and Green\u2019s futures come into focus.<\/p>\n

The veteran forward just played out the final guaranteed season of his four-year contract. By late June, Green will have to decide if he\u2019s going to pick up his player option for the 2026-2027 NBA season or not.<\/p>\n

As for Kerr, the ball is more in the Warriors\u2019 court. His contract is set to expire, and it\u2019s unclear if a new deal will be on the table.<\/p>\n

Following Friday night\u2019s 111-96 elimination by the Suns<\/a>, Warriors forward Draymond Green addressed the future of Kerr, making his feelings clear on the situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cYea, [I\u2019m worried this is it],\u201d Green told reporters after Friday\u2019s loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it would be pretty crazy not to think that\u2019s a possibility. I think most coaches don\u2019t coach on the last year of a contract. I think Steve coaching on the last year of a contract is also just his comfort level and who he is and what he is and what he has to offer. So I don\u2019t make much out of like, oh man, he didn\u2019t sign an extension, but yet, the possibility is there that he doesn\u2019t re-sign.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nothing about Kerr\u2019s situation comes as a shock. Before the regular season started, there were already question marks about the head coach\u2019s future with the Warriors.<\/p>\n

Based on the public messaging, Kerr and the Warriors were on the same page with waiting to make a decision on the future before the end of the 2025-2026 season. They will remain on course, taking their time over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

Green doesn\u2019t wish to see anything change on that front: \u201cI hope not,\u201d the forward said, regarding Kerr potentially leaving the organization.<\/p>\n

There weren\u2019t any snap reactions after the elimination game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen. I still love coaching. But I get it. These jobs all have an expiration date,\u201d he told reporters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a run that happens, and when the run ends, sometimes it\u2019s time for new blood and new ideas and all that. If that\u2019s the case, then I will be nothing but grateful for the most amazing opportunity any person could have to coach this franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kerr coached the Warriors for 12 seasons. During the regular season, the Warriors won 63.1% of their games under Kerr\u2019s management. The Warriors made the playoffs eight times for 152 postseason games. They\u2019ve won six Western Conference Finals and were crowned NBA Champions four times.<\/p>\n

While the past few years have been tough for the Warriors, neither side will have an easy time making a decision on the future.<\/p>\n
