Moments after the LA Clippers\u2019 tragic loss versus the Golden State Warriors, where fans were grieving the official end of a fun, long season, NBA insider Law Murray of \u2018The Athletic\u2019 got straight to work. In a piece he published<\/a>, Murray noted that Tyronn Lue is not going anywhere, which is unfathomable from every angle, given the constant disappointments and shortcomings.<\/p>\n

The Clippers could easily fire Lue as they head into a new era built around youth and hire a replacement who fits the culture, system, and modern winning style. But they are choosing to remain attached to the coach who has gotten them nowhere in the playoffs since being hired, aside from a Western Conference Finals appearance.<\/p>\n

This is a problem, and because Lue is the root of the team\u2019s failures, the front office cannot expect the Clippers to get anywhere until someone new is in charge.<\/p>\n

Firing Lue has been long overdue, and the Clippers still aren\u2019t doing it<\/p>\n

There\u2019s not even a starting point to explain why Tyronn Lue must be dismissed by the LA Clippers. Lue does certain things right, like making adjustments, but at the same time, he has repeatedly rolled with the wrong substitutions<\/a>, pushed out underperforming lineups, and, in the past, has refused to take accountability.<\/p>\n

These are all characteristics of someone who has no business being a head coach, let alone for a team that is seriously trying to win before its franchise superstar, Kawhi Leonard, begins to decline.<\/p>\n

The detriments of having Lue in position are also recent, for example, the Play-In Tournament matchup against the Golden State Warriors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Though Lue had a flawed game plan all around and showed up unprepared, in the fourth, he made a massive mistake by trusting Brook Lopez<\/a>, particularly on defense.<\/p>\n

Lopez was consistently being targeted, and instead of doing something about it, like most coaches would with the season on the line, Lue did nothing; he just hoped the one-time All-Star would get it together.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time a crunch-time disaster has happened as a result of an error from Lue\u2019s end, and it\u2019s likely not the last.<\/p>\n

That said, Lue should have been long gone from the Clippers. He clearly doesn\u2019t belong, but due to the front office still believing he does, the 2016 champion is reportedly going to stay put for the foreseeable future, which is a massive mistake that\u2019ll keep costing seasons.<\/p>\n
