Dale senior and Tulsa men\u2019s basketball signee Denton Forsythe<\/a> was released from a local hospital Saturday after suffering an injury during a baseball<\/a> game.<\/p>\n

An outfielder, Forsythe was injured during Dale\u2019s 4-2 home win against Jones on Friday when a ball was hit in the gap and Forsythe collided with a teammate while diving for the catch. The teammate’s leg struck Forsythe, leading to a Grade 3 laceration on his left kidney.\u00a0Forsythe\u2019s dad, Josh, told The Oklahoman his son\u2019s return this season is uncertain.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thought last night he was going to stay in ICU a couple days, but his pain is way better and he\u2019s not losing blood anymore,\u201d Josh Forsythe said. \u201cThey actually just let him come home a bit ago. He\u2019ll go back for more scans and bloodwork in a few days to make sure the vessels weren\u2019t damaged and he doesn\u2019t still need surgery. Hopefully that all comes back good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Denton Forsythe, the younger brother of OU sophomore basketball player Dayton Forsythe<\/a>, was recently named to The Oklahoman\u2019s Super 5 first team<\/a> following a stellar senior basketball season.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 25.4 points, nine rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game as Dale claimed its fifth straight Class 2A state title.<\/p>\n

Dale baseball is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A-I and has a 15-4 record.<\/p>\n

Josh Forsythe said he has heard his son could be out for as little as two weeks to as long as four months and hopes he can play in the state tournament if Dale advances.<\/p>\n

Denton is set to report to Tulsa on June 3.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot sure about his return,\u201d Josh said. \u201cIt\u2019ll depend on the outcome of the tests I assume.\u201d<\/p>\n
