Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between\u00a0The Assembly Call<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Inside the Hall<\/a>, where we highlight the five most essential IU sports stories of the past week. 6-Banner Sunday is written by Ari Shifron.<\/p>\n The roster for next season, which was in its early stages of taking shape last week, is nearing completion. Also, a non-conference opponent for next season was revealed.<\/p>\n Additionally, the women added an important player from the portal and spring football continues. As usual, we will conclude with a look at the weekly shows and the rest of Hoosier sports in action, led by softball continuing to win.<\/p>\n Here is what is in this week\u2019s edition:<\/p>\n \u2022 Hoosiers land six transfer portal commitments Banner #1 \u2013 Hoosiers land six transfer portal commitments<\/p>\n The Hoosiers seemingly had a strong week in the transfer portal. IU had four transfer portal prospects visit campus: Georgia Tech\u2019s Jaeden Mustaf, Duke\u2019s Darren Harris, Notre Dame\u2019s Markus Burton, and Alabama\u2019s Aiden Sherrell.<\/p>\n Not only did Indiana coach Darien DeVries get all four of these players to commit to play in Bloomington next year, but he also managed to reel in SMU\u2019s Samet Yigitoglu and Villanova\u2019s Bryce Lindsay\u00a0before they made it to campus for a visit<\/a>.<\/p>\n While IU has gotten top players in the portal in previous years, this time it appears to be\u00a0well constructed, where the needs fit the profile<\/a>. The biggest of\u00a0these is Burton<\/a>, who is a former Indiana Mr. Basketball and gives the Hoosiers a dynamic point guard who is an elite scorer and can run the offense at a high level. This is something the team has not had since Yogi Ferrell\u2019s time in Bloomington.<\/p>\n In Lindsay<\/a>, IU gets a 3-point shooter for its backcourt, which is critical in Devries\u2019 system. Meanwhile,\u00a0Yigitoglu is one of the tallest players<\/a>\u00a0in program history and Sherrell complements him as another big man. However, unlike past renditions of Indiana teams using double post players,\u00a0Sherrell is a stretch four<\/a>\u00a0who can step out and shoot threes and should prevent the lane from getting overly clogged.<\/p>\n Whether Mustaf<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Harris gets<\/a>\u00a0the final starting spot remains to be seen, but both can drive to the basket and knock down shots from deep. Either way, Indiana now has six players from high-level programs and all but Harris averaged double figures at their previous stops. They will join the returning Trent Sisley (Andrej Acimovic\u00a0has now entered<\/a>\u00a0the portal as well) and the\u00a0three new freshmen<\/a>\u00a0in what is the\u00a0presumed core<\/a>\u00a0of the 2026-2027 roster.<\/p>\n This infusion of talent moved Indiana into\u00a0the top-15 of offseason projections<\/a>. How it\u00a0plays out on the court remains to be seen<\/a>, but this offseason\u00a0has both football<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0basketball with the top transfer classes<\/a>\u00a0in the country, per On3.<\/p>\n Banner #2 \u2013 Bowling Green revealed as non-conference opponent<\/p>\n As IU filled in its roster this week, another non-conference matchup\u00a0was revealed<\/a>. The Hoosiers will host Bowling Green on either November 27 or 28.<\/p>\n The Falcons finished last season 18-14 overall and ranked No. 144 in KenPom. Indiana has won all three previous meetings, but the teams have not met since 1998.<\/p>\n Also, this game becomes the fourth piece of the puzzle for the pre-Big Ten portion of the schedule. It joins previously announced contests against Bellarmine, Kentucky and Syracuse.<\/p>\n Banner #3 \u2013 IU women add portal commitment from Nebraska<\/p>\n The IU men were not alone in making a splash in the portal this week. The Indiana women also made a significant addition.<\/p>\n It was not the multi-player overhaul, but this is because the women return three starters and bring in the\u00a0sixth-ranked high school class<\/a>\u00a0in the country.<\/p>\n As a result, the portal is more about filling in around the edges for them. After adding Iowa State\u2019s Alisa Williams the day the portal opened, the squad made a more noteworthy addition this week. This commitment is\u00a0from Nebraska\u2019s Jess Petrie<\/a>. She averaged double figures for the Cornhuskers last year.<\/p>\n Banner #4 \u2013 Spring practice continues for IU football<\/p>\n Spring football continues for IU. The Hoosiers are back on the field practicing now and looking to defend their national championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n Several players<\/a>\u00a0and coach\u00a0Curt Cignetti spoke with the media<\/a>\u00a0after practice this week.<\/p>\n Banner #5 \u2013 Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows<\/p>\n Inside the Hall\u2019s Podcast on the Brink\u00a0returned this week<\/a>. On it, Alex Bozich is joined by IU Film Room creator and Greenwood Christian Academy head coach Tony Adragna to discuss Indiana\u2019s transfer portal additions.<\/p>\n The Back Home Network has many shows and was on air many times this week<\/a>\u00a0with programming.<\/p>\n Banner #6 \u2013 Hoosier Roundup<\/p>\n \u2022 Softball continued to dominate, completing a\u00a0sweep of arch-rival Purdue<\/a>\u00a0and rolling\u00a0past Notre Dame<\/a>. They also have\u00a0taken a series from Iowa<\/a>\u00a0this weekend, but fell to\u00a0elite Louisville<\/a>\u00a0in a nail-biter during the midweek.<\/p>\n \u2022 Baseball had mixed results this week,\u00a0defeating Indiana State<\/a>\u00a0as well\u00a0as Evansville<\/a>\u00a0but\u00a0falling to Maryland<\/a>. They have also split their\u00a0first two<\/a>\u00a0with Abilene Christian in\u00a0this weekend\u2019s series<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2022 Men\u2019s tennis\u00a0defeated Nebraska<\/a>\u00a0but fell\u00a0to Michigan State<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2022 Women\u2019s tennis\u00a0fell to UCLA<\/a>\u00a0as well\u00a0as USC<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2022 Water Polo\u00a0lost to<\/a>\u00a0Arizona State to close their season,<\/p>\n \u2022 Women\u2019s golf\u00a0finished sixth<\/a>\u00a0in the Buckeye Invitational.<\/p>\n \u2022 Men\u2019s golf\u00a0finished 13th<\/a>\u00a0at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate.<\/p>\n \u2022 Track and field<\/a>\u00a0competed\u00a0in multiple different<\/a>\u00a0invitationals\u00a0this weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2022 Wrestling signed\u00a0a recruit<\/a>.<\/p>\n
