Draymond Green praised Steve Kerr’s coaching after the Warriors 2025-26 campaign concluded<\/p>\n
The Golden State Warriors<\/a>\u2018 slog of a 2025-26 campaign came to an end in the NBA\u2019s Play-In Tournament, as they lost the No. 8 seed game in the Western Conference to the Phoenix Suns<\/a>. Now, the team will embark on another pivotal offseason that could see franchise legends such as forward Draymond Green<\/a> and head coach Steve Kerr<\/a> be on the move.<\/p>\n While Golden State could ultimately decide to move on from Green, it doesn\u2019t sound like it has any desire to lose Kerr. Instead, Kerr\u2019s future has been thrown up in the air thanks to some cryptic comments he\u2019s made in the wake of the team\u2019s defeat to the Suns. Some have wondered whether Kerr could opt to resign from his post with the Warriors, but amid all the rumors, Green took a moment to provide a testament to his longtime coach\u2019s abilities.<\/p>\n Draymond Green Gushes Over Steve Kerr<\/p>\n Draymond shows Steve Kerr some love<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s several times this year where I thought about quitting and each time, he\u2019d just say the right thing to relight that fire and make you wanna go again\u2026the way you get amazed by Steph Curry\u2019s shots or the way some is amazed by my <\/p>\n The past few seasons have been trying for the Warriors, and that was certainly the case this year as well. With Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler leading the way, Golden State believed it could be a title contender. Instead, Butler tore his ACL in January, and Curry ended up playing in just 43 games thanks to a lingering right knee injury.<\/p>\n The Warriors have been trying to piece things together with Curry and Green after previously moving on from Klay Thompson, but it was another tough year for the sturdy defender. Green suited up for 68 games, averaging 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, but he shot just 41.8% from the field, as he struggled to find a way to make the sort of impact he\u2019s become notorious for throughout his career.<\/p>\n With Curry and Butler missing so much time, Kerr did everything he could to keep this team together, but it wasn\u2019t enough to lead the team to the playoffs. Golden State wants to do whatever it can to build a title contender around Curry while he\u2019s still on the court, and that could lead to Green being on the move. Considering all he\u2019s given to the Dubs, that\u2019s a tough pill to swallow, but it simply may be time for him to find a new home in the NBA.<\/p>\n Kerr, on the other hand, likely will determine his own fate. If he wants to keep coaching, the Warriors don\u2019t have any intention of moving on from him. However, it seems like there\u2019s at least a chance he decides to part ways with the team this offseason.
