On Saturday afternoon, the Denver Nuggets got off to a 1-0 lead<\/a> in their playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a>, winning by a score of 116-105. The Nuggets got off to a slow start in this one, but they were able to work their way back and mostly control things in the second half, despite a relatively quiet 25 points from star big man Nikola Jokic.<\/p>\n

One player noticeably absent for the Nuggets in this one was wing Peyton Watson, who emerged as a breakout player for Denver this year but missed most of the stretch run of the season.<\/p>\n

Now, the Nuggets have gotten a tough injury update<\/a> on Watson’s status moving forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeyton Watson was the only inactive player on either team. As he continues to recover from a right hamstring strain that he reaggravated on April 1, the growing sense around the team is that he\u2019ll miss at least a couple more games, a source told The Post,\u201d reported Bennett Durando of the Denver Post.<\/p>\n

Watson showed off some new scoring abilities this year in a larger role for the Nuggets, particularly in the games when Jokic was out due to a knee injury earlier in the season.<\/p>\n

However, as the report mentioned, Watson dealt with a hamstring strain that sidelined him for several games, an injury that was tweaked earlier this month shortly after his return to the court.<\/p>\n

The Nuggets were able to fare just fine without Watson on Saturday against the Timberwolves, locking down a Minnesota team that was operating without Anthony Edwards at 100 percent due to his own injury, but they will still hope the talented former first-round pick is able to return at some point during this series.<\/p>\n

Game 2 is set for Monday evening at 10:30 pm ET from Denver.<\/p>\n
