Siegel clarified the situation<\/a> during the latest episode of Clutch Scoops on Thursday, expanding on details from a previous report about Herro\u2019s market while Miami explored larger trade scenarios.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing back to Tyler Herro, real quick. Other piece of intel we had in our intel story that I did not mention when we were talking about Tyler Herro before\u2026 two teams did reach out to the Miami Heat at the trade deadline,\u201d Siegel said.<\/p>\n

Those inquiries came at a time when Miami was engaged in discussions with the Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> regarding a potential deal centered around Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a>, creating the possibility that Herro could have been included as part of a larger framework.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo teams: one in the Eastern Conference and one in the Western Conference reached out to the Heat while they were actively talking to the Bucks about a potential Giannis trade, whether or not they would\u2019ve been an extension of it to get Tyler Herro and include other pieces,\u201d Siegel added.<\/p>\n

Bulls explored buy-low Tyler Herro deal amid contract uncertainty and strong production<\/p>\n

Siegel identified the Bulls as the Eastern Conference team that initiated contact, describing their interest as part of a broader rebuilding strategy focused on acquiring younger talent.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut those two teams: one in the East was the Chicago Bulls. A team that was going through a rebuild and looking at buy low opportunities. I\u2019m told they were looking to flip the expiring contracts of Anfernee Simons and Collin Sexton along with some protected picks to get Tyler Herro.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chicago\u2019s reported approach reflects a willingness to leverage short-term contracts and draft capital to pursue a long-term piece in Herro, who remains under contract and has established himself as a primary scoring option.<\/p>\n

Herro\u2019s contract situation also adds context to the trade discussions. The Heat did not offer him an extension prior to the start of the regular season, and he is now set to enter the final year of his four-year, $120 million extension, where he will earn $33 million in the 2026-27 season. Despite that uncertainty, he remained productive when available, averaging 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 48% from the field, 37.8% from three-point range and 91.7% from the free-throw line across 33 games with 28 starts. He logged 31.3 minutes per contest, continuing to serve as a key offensive option.<\/p>\n

A team that is very much at the bottom of the standings, they have a long road ahead of them and they are a team that has trouble luring stars in free agency. Their only way to really do so is either through the draft or through trades,\u201d Siegel said.<\/p>\n

Sacramento\u2019s potential interest in Herro aligns with its current roster direction, which could involve reshaping its core around younger players.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so to get a young guy like Tyler Herro would\u2019ve made a lot of sense for them looking at the contracts of DeMar DeRozan, Dennis Schroder, Malik Monk, Zach LaVine, guys that the Kings are most likely looking to move off of in the offseason.\u201d<\/p>\n
