Doc Rivers<\/a> has been reduced to a spectator in this season’s playoffs after the Milwaukee Bucks had a catastrophic campaign<\/a>, ending their nine-year streak of making it to the postseason.<\/p>\n

Rivers recently stepped down as coach of the Bucks, who had a 32-50 record, their worst since their 15-win season in 2013-2014.<\/p>\n

Milwaukee’s forgettable campaign was riddled with trade rumors involving Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a>, numerous injuries, internal strife, and a supposed lack of transparency from the front office.<\/p>\n

On \u201cThe Bill Simmons Podcast,\u201d the 64-year-old Rivers did not wash his hands clean from their disastrous season<\/a>, but he implied that he could only do so much.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t think I did a great job this year. I really didn\u2019t. Now, obviously, with all the injuries, it was hard, and it\u2019s easier to second-guess,\u201d said Rivers, who led the Boston Celtics to the title in 2008.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought one of the things I\u2019ve always been known for is holding everybody accountable for everything, being on time. I thought I was very lax with that this year, and there are reasons that I can\u2019t go into, but it bothered me that I wasn\u2019t (able to be stricter).\u201d<\/p>\n

Multiple reports claimed that Rivers clashed with the players<\/a>, particularly the veterans, even calling them out during a meeting.<\/p>\n

Throughout the season, Rivers and Antetokounmpo maintained that their relationship was solid. It stayed the same after Rivers stepped down<\/a>, with the two-time MVP calling him an \u201cincredible coach.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Rivers possibly getting an advisory role on the Bucks, perhaps he thought it was wise not to divulge too much to Simmons. Still, he made it clear that Milwaukee had all sorts of problems.<\/p>\n
