{"id":714659,"date":"2026-04-20T15:42:26","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T15:42:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/714659\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T15:42:26","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T15:42:26","slug":"precious-achiuwa-kings-both-open-to-reunion-in-free-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/714659\/","title":{"rendered":"Precious Achiuwa, Kings both open to reunion in free agency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"209\">The Sacramento Kings have a key offseason decision ahead, and one of their most surprising success stories from the 2025\u201326 season\u2013Precious Achiuwa\u2013should factor into the team\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"211\" data-end=\"513\">After beginning the year without a roster spot, Achiuwa worked his way into a significant role in Sacramento, ultimately delivering a career-best campaign.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"211\" data-end=\"513\">During his <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/IWETZKvTaOQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">end-of-season press conference<\/a>, Kings general manager Scott Perry didn\u2019t hide his appreciation for what the 6-foot-8 forward-center brought to the team.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"515\" data-end=\"666\">\u201cNot bad for a guy who came off the couch in November,\u201d Perry said. \u201cReally enjoyed working with Precious this year. Achiuwa appeared in 73 games, starting 57 of them, and averaged 10.1 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting an efficient 52.8 percent from the field\u2014all career highs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"1044\">His impact grew even more late in the season, where he averaged 15.7 points and 9.2 rebounds over the final 25 games, showcasing his ability to handle an expanded role.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1137\">Perry emphasized that growth, noting Achiuwa\u2019s increasing comfort as the season progressed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1139\" data-end=\"1390\">\u201cI just really like how, as the season wore on, he became more comfortable,\u201d Perry said. \u201cHe\u2019s a player who can guard multiple positions. He can play with the necessary athleticism, energy, and force. I think that it\u2019s very important in today\u2019s game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1392\" data-end=\"1649\">Achiuwa\u2019s versatility and motor made him a valuable piece on both ends of the floor, particularly for a Kings team searching for consistency in the frontcourt.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1651\" data-end=\"1723\">As Achiuwa enters free agency, both sides have expressed mutual interest in continuing the partnership.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1725\" data-end=\"1863\">\u201cI know he\u2019d like to be back here,\u201d Perry added. \u201cWe\u2019d like to have him back here. You know, Sacramento is a place that I love being.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2190\" data-end=\"2308\">Having previously played in cities like Miami, Toronto, and New York, Achiuwa said Sacramento\u2019s environment suits him.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2310\" data-end=\"2457\">\u201cI\u2019ve always been the type of person to kind of be low-key, out of the way,\u201d he explained. \u201cSacramento gives me that feeling. That\u2019s more so my pace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2459\" data-end=\"2517\">Still, Achiuwa understands the uncertainty of free agency.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2519\" data-end=\"2790\">\u201cBut at the end of the day, it\u2019s business,\u201d he said. \u201cYou never know. It\u2019s never black and white in this business. My representation is going to be in constant communication with the organization, and hopefully, we\u2019re able to come to something that works for both sides.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2792\" data-end=\"2898\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">NBA free agency is set to begin on June 30th.
