The Golden State Warriors<\/a> are reportedly considering targeting Florida Gators head coach Todd Golden if Steve Kerr doesn’t return for a 13th season. Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor <\/a>reported on Monday night that the SEC coach is a strong candidate to take over as head coach.<\/p>\n

“If Steve Kerr leaves, the Warriors will pursue Florida Gators head coach Todd Golden, according to my league sources,” O’Connor said.<\/p>\n

Kerr is said to be 50-50 on a return for another season, according to ESPN.<\/a>\u00a0Sources close to the Warriors also reported that the franchise<\/a> is interested in a multi-year extension with Kerr, who led them to four NBA titles.<\/p>\n

The speculation follows a disappointing 37-45 campaign that saw the Warriors miss the playoffs entirely, fueling growing uncertainty over Kerr’s future in the Bay Area.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Warriors forward Draymond Green doesn’t seem to think Kerr is coming back, according to a Monday comment.<\/p>\n

“I hope he’s our coach next season,” Green\u00a0said on his podcast<\/a>, “The Draymond Green Show.” “You want my opinion? I think not. Just because it feels like that. It felt like that was it.”<\/p>\n

Golden spent three seasons as head coach at the University of San Francisco before taking the job at Florida, where he won a national championship. O’Connor notes that Golden has a close relationship with members of the Warriors organization, with the two sides reportedly sharing meals.<\/p>\n

O’Connor considers Golden to be “near the top” of the list of potential replacements for Kerr, if not at the very top.<\/p>\n
