That feature has carried over well into his stint with the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/minnesota-timberwolves\/\" title=\"Minnesota Timberwolves\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"232836\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2023-2024 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/\" title=\"NBA\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"232837\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA<\/a> season, Gobert won the NBA\u2019s Defensive Player of the Year award for the first time as a member of the Timberwolves. Joked that \u201cI got lucky.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>A strong playoff performance from Gobert would surely help him make voters regret their decision.<\/p>\n<p>Playing on a first-round stage against the three-time MVP center Nikola Jokic, Gobert has his hands full over the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n<p>In the first matchup between the Nuggets and the Timberwolves, Jokic\u2019s side found the advantage and picked up the victory. He also had eight assists.<\/p>\n<p>Through two games, Jokic has turned the ball over eight times. He\u2019s been a plus-10 on the floor so far through the playoffs. Shutting Jokic down is nearly impossible for any center, but Gobert is clearly having a strong series.
