He inked a four-year rookie deal worth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/84438\/brandin-podziemski\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">$16.25 million<\/a> in 2023, which has one team-option season remaining for 2026-27 at the price of $5.7 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cPodziemski said he hasn\u2019t discussed a new deal with the Warriors yet, but he is optimistic that his agent, Bill Duffy, and general manager Mike Dunleavy will work something out over the next few months,\u201d Friedell reported. \u201cPodziemski admitted that seeing how fellow young players Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga handled their contract negotiations with the Warriors will factor into his decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brandin Podziemski Took Major Heat for Steph Curry Comments<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5605947\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5605947\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2244543388-e1762992020314.jpg\" alt=\"Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Warriors\" width=\"782\" height=\"440\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5605947\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettySteph Curry and Brandin Podziemski of the Golden State Warriors.<\/p>\n<p>Podziemski has taken some <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/miami-heat\/\" title=\"heat\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"233650\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">heat<\/a> from his own fanbase, as well as others in the league, about comments he made last offseason heading into the 2025-26 campaign, in which the young guard said he intends to eventually be a better player than two-time MVP and four-time NBA champion <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/golden-state-warriors\/warriors-concerning-steph-curry-update-suns\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Steph Curry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">\u201cPodziemski made a number of comments in the lead-up to the season about his long-term career ambitions,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/46937666\/draymond-green-says-feel-warriors-committed-winning-blowout-loss-thunder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/46937666\/draymond-green-says-feel-warriors-committed-winning-blowout-loss-thunder\">ESPN\u2019s Anthony Slater reported in November<\/a>. \u201c[He] said he \u2018wants to be better than [Curry],\u2019 an answer that elicited some eye rolls and continued references from several within the organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/aMIzMgCl5Qg?t=29048s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Podziemski addressed those comments<\/a> in a late March interview with \u201c95.7 The Game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">I think I could have worded them a little bit differently, but I also think how it\u2019s perceived on the internet is a little taken out of context. Your biggest strength can be your biggest weakness, and I think it\u2019s gotten me to this point.<\/p>\n<p data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\">I think with that, it\u2019s just something you strive for, seeing the greatest player at the point guard position, the same position you are. If you have the opportunity to be better than him, obviously anybody would, and I think that\u2019s where I was going with that. Not that I\u2019m going to be better than him. Just that if I can be, obviously, I would [want to].<\/p>\n<p>Brandin Podziemski Produced Career Year for Warriors<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5855686\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5855686\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2258168023-e1774450551592.jpg\" alt=\"Brandin Podziemski #2 of the Golden State Warriors\" width=\"782\" height=\"440\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5855686\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyBrandin Podziemski of the Golden State Warriors.<\/p>\n<p>Podziemski appeared in all 82 contests in 2025-26, earning a career-high 43 starts and playing a career-high 28.5 minutes per night.<\/p>\n<p>He averaged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/podzibr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">13.8 points<\/a>, 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game on 45.5 percent shooting from the field and 37.1 percent shooting from the 3-point line on five attempts per outing.<\/p>\n<p>Curry has stated publicly that he believes he has multiple years left, despite having just one season remaining on his contract. He added that he wants to sign an extension with Golden State this offseason.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually Curry will retire or leave the organization, at which point someone will have to take the lead for the Warriors.
