DETROIT \u2013 Detroit Pistons<\/a> center Jalen Duren<\/a> said that improved intensity and smarter offensive reads will be key as they prepare for Game 2 against the Orlando Magic after a physical Game 1 loss.<\/p>\n

Duren said Orlando\u2019s defensive game plan, packing the paint and collapsing quickly on post touches, limited his effectiveness in the series opener.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just had a good game plan, packed the paint, had a lot of bodies in there,\u201d said Duren. \u201cAnytime I got catches deep, they just kind of collapsed on me. We made some adjustments, and we\u2019re getting ready for Game 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Magic\u2019s physical coverage reduced Duren\u2019s shot volume, something he acknowledged must change.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not enough, and that\u2019s on me,\u201d Duren said. \u201cI just got to be better for my guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duren said film study reinforced how often Orlando sent help defenders from multiple angles.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnytime I got a catch, they were collapsing from anywhere,\u201d Duren said. \u201cI didn\u2019t get as many shot attempts as I would\u2019ve liked. I\u2019m going to keep watching those moments and see where I can get more opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff<\/a> has repeatedly emphasized returning to the team\u2019s identity rather than overreacting to one loss, and Duren echoed that message.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we just got to meet their intensity from the jump,\u201d Duren said. \u201cThey\u2019ve been playing with their backs against the wall. We just didn\u2019t match that early.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duren said the Game 1 defeat could sharpen Detroit\u2019s approach rather than shake its confidence.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel like we\u2019re the better team,\u201d Duren said. \u201cWe just got to make adjustments, come out smarter, and play harder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Offensively, Duren pointed to pace and ball movement as the best counter to Orlando\u2019s interior-heavy scheme.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we\u2019re playing with pace, getting the ball side to side, getting downhill and kicking out, that helps us negate their size and physicality,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can\u2019t be stagnant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duren also said he is focused on being more assertive in Game 2 after reviewing missed opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe just being more aggressive, finding my spots and attacking more,\u201d Duren said. \u201cWatching film over and over, seeing where I wasn\u2019t effective, and capitalizing next game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the loss, Duren said Detroit\u2019s response throughout the season gives him confidence heading into Wednesday\u2019s matchup.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve bounced back all season,\u201d Duren said. \u201cI have no doubt we\u2019re going to respond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.<\/p>\n
