{"id":71743,"date":"2025-06-02T12:21:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T12:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/71743\/"},"modified":"2025-06-02T12:21:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T12:21:09","slug":"one-obstacle-in-way-of-both-mets-yankees-pursuit-of-a-crown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/71743\/","title":{"rendered":"One obstacle in way of both Mets, Yankees&#8217; pursuit of a crown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OK, the Knicks have finished another season without a trophy, meaning that outside of the Liberty\u2019s WNBA championship last year \u2014 or, if you\u2019re feeling generous, NYCFC\u2019s MLS Cup title in 2021 \u2014 New York hasn\u2019t seen a professional sports championship since the Giants beat the Patriots in Super Bowl 46 in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Next on the clock are the Mets and Yankees, who both entered June atop their respective divisions \u2014 with the Mets up on the Phillies by a game in the NL East \u2014 and coming off encouraging playoff runs a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>For those fans who have been too preoccupied with the Knicks to keep much of an eye on baseball, not much has changed when it comes to the top challenge for both local teams to win the World Series: The Dodgers.<\/p>\n<p>The Yankees finished up their series at Dodgers Stadium Sunday night <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/01\/sports\/ryan-yarbrough-outduels-yoshinobu-yamamoto-as-yankees-avoid-sweep\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with a 7-3 win<\/a>.
