{"id":718431,"date":"2026-04-26T08:54:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T08:54:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/718431\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T08:54:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T08:54:30","slug":"sixers-joel-embiid-doubtful-kelly-oubre-jr-questionable-for-game-4-vs-celtics-nbc-sports-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/718431\/","title":{"rendered":"Sixers\u2019 Joel Embiid doubtful, Kelly Oubre Jr. questionable for Game 4 vs. Celtics \u2013 NBC Sports Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sixers added Kelly Oubre Jr. to their injury report Saturday night going into Game 4 of their first-round playoff series vs. the Celtics.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Joel Embiid (appendectomy recovery), who was again officially classified as doubtful, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ak-static.cms.nba.com\/referee\/injury\/Injury-Report_2026-04-25_05_00PM.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sixers listed Oubre as questionable with \u201cright adductor soreness.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oubre\u2019s carried a large load in the series, including a 40-minute outing Friday night as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com\/nba\/philadelphia-76ers\/sixers-vs-celtics-game-3-tyrese-maxey-paul-george-jaylen-brown\/728891\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sixers lost to the Celtics and fell into a 2-1 series deficit. <\/a>He\u2019s guarded both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum and averaged 13.0 points and 6.0 rebounds. Following a career-best three-point shooting season, Oubre\u2019s gone just 3 for 15 (20 percent) beyond the arc through three games. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just trying to be steady and solid,\u201d he said after the Sixers\u2019 film session Saturday. \u201cAnd when my opportunity presents itself, I\u2019m fully confident in what I can do. I\u2019m going to continue to keep a positive mindset and just go out there and be myself. I have a pretty heavy load on defense but at the end of the day, I\u2019m a two-way player. \u2026 I just want to bring myself to the game and help my team win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the event Oubre is unable to play or can\u2019t handle the same volume of minutes, Justin Edwards and Dominick Barlow would appear in line for increased playing time. Barlow was out of the Sixers\u2019 Game 3 rotation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Embiid\u2019s status is certainly subject to change ahead of Sunday night&#8217;s Game 4. <\/p>\n<p>Sixers head coach Nick Nurse suggested that Sunday morning\u2019s shootaround might be a significant step. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com\/nba\/philadelphia-76ers\/joel-embiid-injury-update-sixers-vs-celtics-nba-playoffs-2026\/728506\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Embiid participated in parts of the Sixers\u2019 practice Thursday and has clearly been trending up in recent days<\/a>. He underwent his appendectomy on April 9.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s on court right now doing individual work,\u201d Nurse said of Embiid. \u201cLike I said before, he\u2019s working as hard as he can to get back. We just need to see how it goes today and tomorrow morning, and then maybe we\u2019ll know more toward the end of shootaround tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though both Adem Bona and Andre Drummond have had good moments in the series, they haven\u2019t come close to replicating Embiid\u2019s presence. On top of Embiid\u2019s diverse offensive game, the Sixers have missed his rim protection defensively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a different ball game, having someone like that back in the series,\u201d Bona said Friday. \u201cIt\u2019s a huge advantage for us.
