The Minnesota Timberwolves dropped Game 5 in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs by a 125-113 tally<\/a> to the Denver Nuggets.<\/p>\n Now up by just one game (3-2), the Wolves will get a second chance to close things out on Wednesday, which will feel like a must-win game for a team without two of its best players<\/a>, in Donte DiVincenzo (torn achilles) and Anthony Edwards (bone bruise in knee<\/a>).<\/p>\n We already know that Donte is out for the rest of the postseason, but the Timberwolves are holding out hope<\/a> that Ant will be able to return, should they get out of his series against Denver alive.<\/p>\n MN Timberwolves injury update for Anthony Edwards<\/p>\n To this point. we have heard a rather vague \u201cweek-to-week\u201d timeline for Edwards\u2019 return to the Wolves lineup. Of course it\u2019s up in the air as to when, and if, he\u2019s going to return in the next round if they are able to advance. It\u2019s a bone bruise in his left knee, hyperextension. He has avoided ligament damage, but it\u2019s going to be at minimum, my understanding is two weeks. That puts you at some point in the second round where the window starts to open up for you to return. Remember, on the right knee, he\u2019s dealing with Runner\u2019s Knee.\u201d<\/p>\n Shams Charania<\/a><\/p>\n Edwards suffered the injury on April 25<\/a>. Two weeks from that day would by May 9. How that falls amongst the playoff schedule will largely be determined by the amount of time it takes for the MN Timberwolves to close out the Nuggets.<\/p>\n Anthony Edwards eyeing round two for Minnesota Timberwolves<\/p>\n San Antonio currently leads the Portland Trailblazers 3-1 in their first round playoff matchup. A home victory on Tuesday by the Spurs would make them the opponent of whoever wins this series between Minnesota and Denver.<\/p>\n In his three full playoff games this season, Ant averaged 23.0 points<\/a> on just 39.0% shooting.
