Wilkes was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the No. 11 pick in the 1974 NBA Draft and won the Rookie of the Year award in his debut season. Wilkes won his first NBA Finals with the Warriors in 1975. He won three more NBA Finals with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played eight seasons from 1977-85.
