Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> guard Anthony Edwards<\/a> suffered a knee injury on April 26 that raised uncertainty about his status for the remainder of the NBA Playoffs. Before Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals tips off on Monday night, the Timberwolves got some positive news.<\/p>\n

ESPN<\/a>\u2018s Shams Charania reported that Edwards is now expected to play in Game 1 on Monday night against the San Antonio Spurs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Edwards suffered the knee injury in Game 4 of the first-round series against the Phoenix Suns<\/a>. He was ultimately diagnosed with a hyperextended knee and a bone bruise in his left knee, with the expectation that he\u2019d miss the Western Conference Semifinals.<\/p>\n

Sources told ESPN that the team became increasingly confident in recent days regarding Edwards\u2019 ability to return quickly. He\u2019s gone through \u201caround-the-clock rehabbing,\u201d working up to light workouts over the weekend followed by participation in the team\u2019s shootaround on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Edwards entered the NBA Playoffs coming off another knee injury. He missed 11 of the Timberwolves\u2019 final 14 regular-season games due to inflammation in his right knee.<\/p>\n

It certainly seemed to have some impact on his performance. He entered the 2026 NBA Playoffs averaging 26.9 points per game, making 3.1 three-pointers per contest while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from the perimeter in 42 career playoff starts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the four first-round series games against the Phoenix Suns, Edwards shot just 35.8 percent from the field and his average fell to 2.0 three-pointers made per game on 25.8 percent shooting.<\/p>\n

The hope for Minnesota might be that having nearly 8 full days of rest and rehabilitation could put Edwards in a better position to perform well both in Game 1 and for the rest of the series. Edwards is expected to be wearing a sleeve on his left knee, as he was spotted with one in shootaround this morning while he tested it with quick-dribble stepbacks.<\/p>\n
