If Barrett doesn’t sign an extension, he’ll enter the 2026-27 NBA season on an expiring contract and will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.<\/p>\n

RJ Barrett wants to spend rest of career with Raptors<\/p>\n

If Barrett gets his way, he’ll sign an extension and eliminate any questions about his future, as Canadian native made it clear<\/a> that he wants to remain a Raptor for the rest of his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an easier question for me to answer because I\u2019m from here, and who doesn\u2019t want to play at home? So, of course, I\u2019m trying to stay here,\u201d Barrett said of his NBA future.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand the business, but I want to stay here. I don\u2019t have any problems saying that. I want to be here for the rest of my career. I don\u2019t want to leave. I don\u2019t have any problems openly saying that. I\u2019ve done my part on the court this year, and I will continue to do my part, so let\u2019s hope things work out that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barrett is coming off of a very solid season for the Raptors where he averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per performance. He also hit an epic game-winner against the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> in the first round of the playoffs that Raptors fans won’t soon forget, despite the ultimate outcome of the series.<\/p>\n
