CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS<\/a>) \u2014 The Charlotte Hornets are celebrating the installation of the final structural beam at the Novant Health Performance Center.<\/p>\n

The organization, along with Novant Health leadership, Novant Health Performance Center Foundational Partners Honeywell and Truist, construction and design partners, held a \u2018topping off\u2019 ceremony, marking the completion of the building\u2019s structural framework.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s topping\u2011off ceremony marks a meaningful milestone not only in the construction of the Novant Health Performance Center, but also in the continued evolution of our franchise and our commitment to Charlotte,\u201d said Hornets Sports & Entertainment Co\u2011Chairmen Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin.<\/p>\n

The $150M facility located at 501 East Trade Street will be used by the team for practice and other activities. It will feature more than 160,000 total square feet of space for training and performance, administrative offices, and retail space. It will also have an orthopedic and sports medicine clinic that will be open to the public.<\/p>\n

Hornets forward Grant Williams tells Queen City News that it\u2019s exciting for him to see the investment in the team he grew up watching.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember coming down that hill, Beattie\u2019s Ford Road, and coming to see Spectrum, and coming to see games, and driving by the same light every single day, and wondering what\u2019s going on, whether the practice facility is going to go on the bus a lot, or if it\u2019s going to go in all these places,\u201d Williams says. \u201cTo see it actually manifest is special, especially to be a part of it. It\u2019s been an honor to represent the city.\u201d<\/p>\n

The practice center is set to open during the 2027 NBA season.<\/p>\n
