A month ago, the Oregon<\/a> men\u2019s basketball program was down to one scholarship player and two walk-ons as the loss of three seniors and nine players to the transfer portal<\/a> \u2013 including starting point guard Jackson Shelstad<\/a> and forward Kwame Evans<\/a> Jr. \u2013 left the Ducks\u2019 roster decimated.<\/p>\n

It’s not anymore.<\/p>\n

Coach Dana Altman and his staff have rebuilt the roster back up to 13 players. They’ve added eight players from the transfer portal, and have two freshmen (potentially three) coming in to join returning starting forward Sean Stewart<\/a> and walk-ons Rian Gonzales<\/a> and Luke Johnson.<\/p>\n

Who are Oregon basketball\u2019s new players?<\/p>\n

Dwayne Aristode<\/a>, SF (Arizona<\/a>):\u00a0The former four-star recruit in 2025 was ranked as the No. 29 player overall by 247Sports. Aristode (6-foot-8, 220 pounds) averaged 3.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists and shot 49% from the field in 35 games.<\/p>\n

Taylor Bol Bowen, F (Alabama<\/a>):\u00a0The 6-10 senior is the tallest player on the Oregon roster. He started 11 games last season for the Crimson Tide and averaged 6.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 block per game. He shot 41.2% from the field and 30.2% from 3-point range. Before playing for Alabama, he was a 27-game starter for Florida State<\/a> as a sophomore in 2024-25 and averaged 8.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.<\/p>\n

\"Dwayne<\/p>\n

Dwayne Aristode is a former four-star recruit out of high school who played at Arizona last season. He’ll join the Oregon Ducks this coming year.<\/p>\n

Pharaoh Compton<\/a>, F (San Diego State<\/a>): The 6-7, 230-pound junior averaged 7.5 points and 2.8 rebounds last season as a reserve. He had six points and four rebounds in 19 minutes in the Aztecs<\/a>‘ 97-80 nonconference victory against the Ducks at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas in November.<\/p>\n

Jerry Easter II, G (Southern California):\u00a0The 6-5, 190-pounder was also a former four-star recruit who started seven games as a freshman last season and played in 29. He averaged 4.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and shot 43.6% from the field and 23.5% from 3-point range. In a win against Oregon on Dec. 2, Easter played 35 minutes, scored 11 and had seven rebounds, one assist and two steals.<\/p>\n

Jasper Johnson<\/a>, G (Kentucky<\/a>):\u00a0The 6-5, 180-pound former four-star recruit averaged 4.9 points and 1.6 assists in a reserve role as a freshman last season. He shot 34% from 3-point range and played 12 minutes per game.<\/p>\n

Andrew Meadow, F (Boise State<\/a>): A 6-7, 200-pound senior, Meadow averaged 12.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist last season. He shot 51% from the field and 38.6% from 3-point range (44 of 114).<\/p>\n

Fred Payne, PG (Boston College<\/a>): The 6-1, 185-pound redshirt junior averaged 15.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game last season with 30 starts. He\u2019ll be the presumptive replacement for Shelstad heading into next season.<\/p>\n

Tyrone Riley IV, G (San Francisco<\/a>): The 6-foot-6 junior averaged 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game last season for the Dons. He shot 47.2% from the field and 36.8% from 3-point range (42 of 114). He was a second-team All-WCC selection. He started 65 games in his two-year career at San Francisco.<\/p>\n

\"Former<\/p>\n

Former Boston College player Fred Payne is projected to be Oregon’s new starting point guard. The Ducks have added no fewer than eight players in the past month after losing nine to the transfer portal, in addition to those who were out of eligibility.<\/p>\n

Potential 2026-27 starting lineup for Oregon men’s basketball<\/p>\n

Forward: Taylor Bol Bowen<\/p>\n

Bench: Guards Jasper Johnson, Jerry Easter and Seven Spurlock. Forwards Pharoah Compton, Tajh Ariza and Andrew Meadow.<\/p>\n

Ariza and Spurlock are part of an incoming freshman class that could also include Kendre Harrison, a four-star forward who was also a five-star tight end recruit. He is already on campus and focused on football. The expectation is that he’ll join the basketball team for the first time once the 2026 football season ends, but that won’t be until late December at the earliest.<\/p>\n

Where have Oregon’s former players landed?<\/p>\n

Of the nine former Ducks<\/a> who entered the transfer portal in March or April, seven have found new teams.<\/p>\n

Shelstad signed with Louisville<\/a>, Evans signed with Villanova, Dezdrick Lindsay will play for Kansas State, Devon Pryor is at Texas Rio Grande Valley, Ege Demir is at Duquesne, Jamari Phillips is at Washington State<\/a> and JJ Frakes is at Buffalo.<\/p>\n

Wei Lin<\/a> and Efe Vatan have yet to announce a new team.<\/p>\n
