After more than 20 years as the Boston Celtics<\/a>‘ majority owner, Wyc Grousbeck is apparently looking to pivot from the NBA to the NFL.<\/p>\n

Sportico reported on Thursday<\/a> that Grousbeck and Celtics investor Aditya Mittal are leading a bid to purchase the Seattle Seahawks. Mittal,\u00a0a member of one of India\u2019s richest families, contributed roughly\u00a0$1 billion when a group led by Bill Chisholm bought the Celtics from Grousbeck for\u00a0$6.1 billion last summer.<\/p>\n

Now, Grousbeck and Mittal both have their sights set on the NFL and the reigning Super Bowl champions, who beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX in February.<\/p>\n

Grousbeck already won two NBA championships<\/a> with the Celtics, but now he may be after a different kind of trophy.<\/p>\n

Per Sportico’s report,\u00a0Mittal and Grousbeck were the only signatures on the letter of interest submitted to Allen & Company, which was hired to handle the sale. Since Mittal resides in London, Grousbeck would live in Seattle part-time and essentially run the franchise.<\/p>\n

Grousbeck and Mittal were the first bidders publicly identified. However, they figure to have plenty of competition. Sportico also reported on Thursday<\/a> that\u00a0Vinod Khosla, a notable West Coast venture capitalist and investor in the San Francisco 49ers, is also preparing a bid for the Seahawks.<\/p>\n
