It takes a lot for a certified Boston sports fanatic to pay a compliment to any New York team, but after what the Knicks<\/a> did against the 76ers on Sunday night, even Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy couldn\u2019t help but tip his cap to them.<\/p>\n

Looking to end Philly\u2019s season in its own building while carrying a commanding 3-0 series lead into Game 4, the Knicks shot the lights out in an emphatic 144-114 victory, tying the record for 3-point field goals made in a playoff game with 25 in the process.<\/p>\n

Portnoy himself admired the way the Knicks dominated both on the court and in the stands, as New York fans took over the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, saying, \u201cThe Knicks are very good, and I think they can compete for a title.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting your home arena taken over in a city that prides itself [on being] one of the Big 3 sports cities…Boston, New York [and] Philadelphia…should the Sixers be embarrassed? Yeah,\u201d Portnoy said while appearing on Barstool\u2019s \u201cWake Up\u201d program Monday morning.<\/p>\n

In fact, Knicks fans invaded the Sixers\u2019 arena to the point where an unignorable horde of fans taunted Philly star Joel Embiid<\/a> by holding up photos of Mitchell Robinson<\/a>\u2019s instantly iconic dunk over the former MVP while making deafening noise, a nearly unthinkable sight at a home playoff game.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorst of all, you got dominated by one of your arch-rivals; the Knicks took your building over…you may never be able to recover from that. If you can\u2019t protect your own building, you\u2019re not a real sports town,\u201d Portnoy concluded bluntly.<\/p>\n

As the Knicks savor such a dominant showing and their seventh straight playoff win, they\u2019ll also hope the current series between the Pistons and Cavaliers \u2014 which Detroit<\/a> currently leads 2-1 \u2014 stretches as long as possible, with Game 3 slated for Monday at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
