The Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> crashed out against the San Antonio Spurs, 126-97, in Game 5<\/a> of their second-round series in the playoffs at Frost Bank Center on Tuesday, and are now on the brink of elimination.<\/p>\n

The Timberwolves had a lackluster start, allowing the Spurs to set the tone<\/a>, which led to the lopsided outcome. Minnesota trailed by as much as 30 points.<\/p>\n

The Timberwolves went on a 14-2 run at the start of the third quarter, but the Spurs quickly responded and doused cold water on Anthony Edwards<\/a> and company.<\/p>\n

Edwards was wrong. They had 12 second-chance points, one more than the Spurs.<\/p>\n

Edwards finished with 20 points, two rebounds, and two assists. He also had a game-worst four turnovers and only took 13 shots.<\/p>\n

Julius Randle<\/a> had 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Ayo Dosunmu<\/a> added 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks.<\/p>\n

Edwards was limited to eight points in the first half, as the Spurs matched the physicality of the Timberwolves<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Timberwolves will try to save their season in Game 6 at Target Center on Friday.<\/p>\n
