Veteran Golden State Warriors<\/a> forward Draymond Green<\/a> is high on the quality of players entering this year’s draft. He believes, however, that North Carolina<\/a> forward Caleb Wilson presents an upside that can be tapped into by any team that picks him up.<\/p>\n

Wilson<\/a>, 19, played one season with the Tar Heels and impressed with his versatile skill set and two-way play. He played 24 games and posted all-around averages of 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks while shooting 57.8 percent from the field in 31.3 minutes of play.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, his one-and-done collegiate campaign was cut short because of an injury to his hand, leaving him unable to play for North Carolina in the March Madness, where the Tar Heels exited in the opening round.<\/p>\n

Green’s take on Wilson<\/p>\n

Speaking in a recent episode of his podcast, the four-time NBA champion shared his thoughts on Wilson and his prospects of doing well in the pros. While he does not think the Atlanta<\/a> native will necessarily be selected first overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, Wilson is considered a sleeper who could make an immediate impact and eventually blossom into a star.<\/p>\n

“Who I think is going to be the sleeper and will not be even considered for the number one pick is Caleb Wilson. I think Caleb Wilson is the most special player in this draft\u2026 I actually think he’s a bit clumsy. And imagine being clumsy and as good as he is. And what I mean by clumsy, I don’t mean that in a negative way. I mean he’s still figuring his body out,” Green shared<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He then boldly likened 6’10” Wilson’s development to that of reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year and former Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama<\/a> of the San Antonio Spurs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Green highlighted that, like Wembanyama, Wilson already has the inherent talent and the necessary skills to do well in the sport and just needs to put in the work to realize his full potential.<\/p>\n

“It’s like Victor Wembanyama still figuring his body out\u2026 That’s what makes it so interesting. When you start talking upside, that’s upside. Caleb Wilson is still figuring his limbs and stuff out. He is athletic as hell, super skilled, talented, got the dog in him. Like, I don’t know what more you want. He has by far the most potential in this draft. No questions asked,” Green pointed out.<\/p>\n

Possible landing spots for Wilson<\/p>\n

The Washington Wizards<\/a> earned the right to pick first overall in the 2026 NBA Draft next month. They are followed by the Utah Jazz<\/a>, Memphis Grizzlies<\/a>, Chicago Bulls<\/a> and LA Clippers<\/a> in the top five.<\/p>\n

Washington can opt to select Wilson as No. 1 and he could fill in for both the forward spots for the Wizards with a lot of promise while playing for a team that features Anthony Davis<\/a> and Trae Young<\/a>.<\/p>\n

BYU’s AJ Dybantsa<\/a> is tipped to be selected first in the draft, but with what Wilson is packing, the Wizards may want to look at him deeper. The same goes for the Jazz, Bulls, Grizzlies and Clippers, who are looking for a versatile player with Wilson’s skills as they regroup after a rough season.<\/p>\n

Where Wilson lands in the draft remains to be seen. What is definite, though, is that he has the goods to be solid in the NBA and it is up to the teams in the mix for his services to find a place for him within their systems and develop him.<\/p>\n
