The \u201cNBA on Prime\u201d crew had a few words for Shams Charania after ESPN\u2019s NBA insider spoiled Amazon\u2019s NBA MVP reveal.<\/p>\n
Charania broke the news Sunday morning that Oklahoma City Thunder\u2019s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won the MVP award<\/a> for the second straight year \u2014 before Amazon\u2019s scheduled announcement of the award later that night, with an appearance from the winner.<\/p>\n Taylor Rooks, who is the host of \u201cNBA on Prime,\u201d brought up Charania\u2019s report during Sunday\u2019s pregame show with NBA analysts Steve Nash, Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki.<\/p>\n This morning, Shams Charania broke the news that Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won the MVP award.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s how the NBA on Prime crew reacted:<\/p>\n “It’s Sunday Shams, go to brunch you nerd.\u201dpic.twitter.com\/canAAA5dlS<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Front Office Sports (@FOS) May 18, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cAlright now, just to be clear, the official [MVP] announcement is happening here [on Prime],\u201d Rooks said.<\/p>\n \u201cDirk and Steve you both won MVPs, but I don\u2019t remember Shams spoiling it way back then.\u201d <\/p>\n Nash, who won the MVP award in two consecutive seasons (2004-05 and 2005-06), laughed and said, \u201cShots.\u201d<\/p>\n Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander speaks during a press conference after the announcement he won the 2025-2026 NBA Most Valuable Player award on May 17, 2026. He also made an appearance on \u201cSportsCenter\u201d to discuss the news.<\/p>\n During Sunday\u2019s Prime pregame show, Gilgeous-Alexander said that Nash, a fellow Canadian and NBA Hall of Famer, \u201cwas the first person\u201d <\/a>to tell him he was going to the NBA.<\/p>\n The reigning Finals MVP, Gilgeous-Alexander, beat out other MVP finalists Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama.<\/p>\n NBA on Prime cast (L-R), Taylor Rooks, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Blake Griffin and Udonis Haslem.
