Other reporters have mentioned that the number could be as high as 70, with cuts primarily being on the business side of operations. Some members of the Blazers\u2019 own media team were also let go.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Trail Blazers have laid off over 50 long-term team employees today, including some from their media team, as new owner Tom Dundon implements more cost-cutting measures on the franchise.<\/p>\n<p>Dundon is also still exploring hiring a head coach for the cheapest possible salary. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5nKZYHvZgB\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/5nKZYHvZgB<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Evan Sidery (@esidery) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/esidery\/status\/2056831298908422452?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">May 19, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>According to Blazers reporter Sean Highkin, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/highkin\/status\/2056905099755311246\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/highkin\/status\/2056905099755311246\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">there were also \u201ca few\u201d members<\/a> of the team\u2019s basketball ops let go who were considered \u201clower\u201d or \u201cmid-level\u201d staffers. Portland general manager Joe Cronin and his three top assistants, Andrae Patterson, Sergi Oliva, and Asjha Jones, were not among the firings.<\/p>\n<p>The mass layoffs were just the latest in what has been an ongoing trend with the Blazers since new owner Tom Dundon took over the team this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Blazers made the playoffs this season for the first time since 2021. But the louder chatter has been about how \u201ccheap\u201d Dundon has been since taking charge. Dundon <a href=\"https:\/\/larrybrownsports.com\/basketball\/blazers-pulled-another-cheap-move-playoffs-two-way\/750906\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">refused to cover travel expenses for the Blazers\u2019 two-way players<\/a> to attend the team\u2019s playoff road games. <\/p>\n<p>Dundon also <a href=\"https:\/\/larrybrownsports.com\/basketball\/blazers-cheap-move-fans-playoffs\/750628\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">did away with free T-shirts for fans<\/a> during Portland\u2019s two home games.
