His Detroit Pistons finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference 60-22.

The contrast between Duren during the regular season and Duren during the playoffs, however, leaves Detroit with a very interesting decision to make this offseason.

In 14 postseason games, Duren averaged 10.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks, shooting 51.4 percent from the field. The Pistons had a minus-0.3 net rating when he played and a plus-7.8 net rating when he sat, per NBA.com. That’s fairly damming, and while there is often noise in on-off rating, Duren didn’t exactly pass the eye test during the playoffs either.

Are the Pistons about to dedicate $287 million to Duren after that showing? It’s hard to imagine them doing so, with projections for his upcoming extension far lower:

On the other hand, one would imagine the Sixers would be just fine with Maxey becoming supermax eligible despite the massive extension it would qualify him to sign. The 25-year-old emerged as one of the best guards in the NBA this season, averaging 28.3 points, 6.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game, shooting 36.7 percent from three.

While the Sixers have to ride out the contracts of Paul George and the oft-injured Joel Embiid over the next few years, the backcourt of Maxey and rookie standout V.J. Edgecombe has provided plenty of long-term optimism. Maxey maintaining an All-NBA level would only further fuel that positive outlook, regardless of the financial implications.

Sunday’s All-NBA vote was of particular interested to Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren and Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese…

[3769
679,7,6,678,207,3817
post-743403","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-philadelphia-76ers","tag-76ers","tag-basketball","tag-nba","tag-philadelphia","tag-philadelphia-76ers","tag-philadelphia76ers
["GET
