Look no further than some of the NBA&#8217;s recent award winners, where <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CelticsGRD\/status\/2059431652032417804\" rel=\"nofollow\">New Englanders are dominating<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rhode Island native Joe Mazzulla won his <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/boston-celtics\/news\/joe-mazzulla-statement-nba-coach-year\/9922f60a92e23999c7dc4384\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">first NBA Coach of the Year award<\/a> on Tuesday. While the <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/boston-celtics\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Celtics<\/a> lost in the first round of the playoffs, they had a phenomenal regular season that far exceeded expectations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite parting ways with much of their championship core last summer and losing Jayson to an Achilles injury for most of the season, the Celtics didn&#8217;t skip a beat. Mazzulla led them to a 56-26 record and the two seed in the Eastern Conference, <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/boston-celtics\/news\/celtics-joe-mazzullas-coaching-style-earns-high-marks-nba-players\/a911a382790167751b6e7839\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">getting the most out<\/a> of an undermanned and inexperienced roster.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Coach of the Year &#8211; Rhode Island<\/p>\n<p>Rookie of the Year &#8211; Maine<\/p>\n<p>The #1 Draft Pick &#8211; Massachusetts<\/p>\n<p>Shout out to New England in the NBA<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 GreenRunsDeep (@CelticsGRD) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CelticsGRD\/status\/2059431652032417804?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">May 27, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Maine native Cooper Flagg won NBA Rookie of the Year honors for his stellar season with the Dallas Mavericks. The top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft lived up to the hype, averaging 21.0 points,\u00a06.7 rebounds and\u00a04.5 assists per game in his age-19 season.<\/p>\n<p>Luka Doncic may be gone, but the future is still fairly bright in Dallas thanks to Flagg. Boston fans are already dreaming of him potentially <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/boston-celtics\/news\/cooper-flagg-shoots-down-celtics-rumors-first-game-td-garden\/f7e58779ba9a8003db1bf0d4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">playing for the Celtics<\/a> someday.<\/p>\n<p>Like Flagg, the first overall pick of the 2026 NBA Draft will likely be a New Englander as well.
