According to Andscape\u2019s Marc Spears, Chicago has been waiting for the conclusion of the Cavs\u2019 season to get in touch with Bryant.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Bulls have received permission to interview Cavaliers associate head coach Johnnie Bryant for their head coach job, a source said. The former University of Utah guard has 12 years of NBA assistant coaching experience and has also been an associate head coach with the Knicks.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Marc J. The former Utah Utes standout joined the Utah Jazz<a class=\"maisdio-link\" href=\"#\" data-sport=\"nba\" data-team=\"20000017\" data-name=\"Utah Jazz\" data-track-content=\"\" data-content-name=\"mai-sportsdataio-link\" data-content-piece=\"Utah Jazz\"><\/a>\u2019s coaching staff from 2014 to 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Bryant was named associate head coach of the New York Knicks<a class=\"maisdio-link\" href=\"#\" data-sport=\"nba\" data-team=\"20000006\" data-name=\"New York Knicks\" data-track-content=\"\" data-content-name=\"mai-sportsdataio-link\" data-content-piece=\"New York Knicks\"><\/a> in 2020 during Tom Thibodeau\u2019s first year with the team. Bryant took the same role as Kenny Atkinson took the top job with the Cleveland Cavaliers<a class=\"maisdio-link\" href=\"#\" data-sport=\"nba\" data-team=\"20000012\" data-name=\"Cleveland Cavaliers\" data-track-content=\"\" data-content-name=\"mai-sportsdataio-link\" data-content-piece=\"Cleveland Cavaliers\"><\/a> in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>With half a dozen years as the second-in-command on playoff teams under his belt, Bryant appears to be a prime candidate to get a head coaching opportunity on a young team like the Bulls. Bryant <a href=\"https:\/\/larrybrownsports.com\/basketball\/suns-coaching-job-finalists\/700849\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">nearly landed the Phoenix Suns job<\/a><a class=\"maisdio-link\" href=\"#\" data-sport=\"nba\" data-team=\"20000029\" data-name=\"Phoenix Suns\" data-track-content=\"\" data-content-name=\"mai-sportsdataio-link\" data-content-piece=\"Phoenix Suns\"><\/a> last offseason before the Western Conference team went with Jordan Ott.<\/p>\n<p>Billy Donovan <a href=\"https:\/\/larrybrownsports.com\/basketball\/billy-donovan-pelicans-magic-jobs\/751115\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stepped down as Chicago\u2019s head coach last month<\/a> after six mostly lackluster seasons with the team. The Bulls are casting a wide net to find Donovan\u2019s replacement.
