When free agency rolls around on June 30, the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> will have some decisions to make. Of course, they will be looking to improve the roster, but they also have to decide what they will do with their own free agents.<\/p>\n

For example, what should the Sixers do with Quentin Grimes<\/a>? It was a long process in 2025 when Grimes was a restricted free agent as he was looking for the deal that benefited him, but ultimately he and the Sixers settled for him returning on the $8.7 million qualifying offer.<\/p>\n

Grimes then averaged 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting 45% from the floor and 33.4% from deep. He didn’t have the most impactful playoff performance, other than the 18 points he scored in the Game 5 win over the Boston Celtics<\/a>, but his free agency should be interesting in the coming summer.<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Bobby Marks <\/a>laid out an offer for Grimes as follows:<\/p>\n

Two years, $30 million with a player option in the second year. Grimes signed an $8.7 million qualifying offer with Philadelphia<\/a> before training camp and enters the offseason as one of the best unrestricted free agent shooting guards.<\/p>\n

Barring a sign-and-trade, Grimes’ suitors could be teams that have the $15 million non-tax midlevel exception. The player option allows Grimes to enter free agency next offseason, when nearly half of the league’s teams are projected to have cap space.<\/p>\n

There are teams that should intrigue Grimes in terms of both the money they can offer as well as a potential role. Those teams include the Chicago Bulls<\/a>, the Detroit Pistons<\/a>, and the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>. Grimes had a brief stint with the Pistons that lasted only six games in 2023-24 after being acquired from the New York Knicks<\/a>, but he would give a big scoring and shooting boost to that bench as well as the other teams mentioned. The Lakers always need another scorer while the Bulls can offer up more money due to the cap space they possess.<\/p>\n
