Kentucky<\/a> has gotten the best available player in college basketball\u2019s transfer portal.<\/p>\n

Former Iowa State<\/a> forward Milan Momcilovic<\/a> committed to the Wildcats late Monday night, according to<\/a> multiple reports<\/a>. Momcilovic was the No. 3 player in On3\u2019s transfer rankings after he removed himself from NBA Draft consideration. After the 2025-26 season, Momcilovic simultaneously entered the transfer portal and explored declaring for the draft.<\/p>\n

Kentucky and its in-state rival Louisville<\/a> had been considered the top two contenders to land Momcilovic.<\/p>\n

Momcilovic has been one of the best shooters in college basketball. Last season, he averaged nearly 17 points per game while shooting almost 49% from behind the 3-point line on 7.5 attempts per game. His effective field goal percentage was over 67%. That mark ranked third among power conference players in a category that was dominated by big men who typically shoot close to the basket.<\/p>\n

For his career, Momcilovic is a 46% shooter and shoots almost 43% from behind the arc. He averaged just under 40% from deep as a sophomore in 2024-25 while averaging 11.5 points per game.<\/p>\n

A massive addition for Kentucky<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard to overstate the importance of Momcilovic\u2019s arrival for the Wildcats. Kentucky is in the midst of a big roster overhaul ahead of what\u2019s shaping up to be a pivotal third season for coach Mark Pope.<\/p>\n

Momcilovic is Kentucky\u2019s sixth transfer addition of the offseason and by far the best-ranked player in UK\u2019s transfer class. Before his commitment, Kentucky\u2019s class ranked 79th in the country thanks to seven players transferring away in a group that includes Mouhamed Dioubate<\/a> (LSU<\/a>) and Collin Chandler<\/a> (BYU).<\/p>\n

The sharpshooter will be counted on right away to handle much of the scoring load for Kentucky in Otega Oweh<\/a>\u2019s absence. Oweh and Denzel Aberdeen<\/a> \u2014 who is out of eligibility but also attempting to transfer back to Florida<\/a> for another season \u2014 were the only two Wildcats to average at least 10 points per game as Kentucky stumbled to a 22-14 record and lost to Momcilovic and Iowa State in the second round of the NCAA tournament.<\/p>\n
