I think a lot of people are being emotional about the Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a> losing in seven games to the San Antonio Spurs<\/a> in the Western Conference playoffs. Injuries are always a thing in the NBA, but the Thunder unfortunately got the short end of the stick during this entire playoff run. Jalen Williams<\/a> was hurt, Ajay Mitchell<\/a> dealt with some injuries, and other guys were obviously bruised up.<\/p>\n

It would still make sense for the Thunder to go out and try to make a blockbuster move if they believe that’s what’s needed, but it’s also important to remember what we’re working with here.<\/p>\n

General manager Sam Presti typically doesn’t make irrational decisions, which is why a trade for someone like Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a> might not be as likely as some are starting to believe. On the flip side, it sounds like the Thunder have some interest in another player, and that’s Evan Mobley<\/a> of the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“League sources have long maintained that Oklahoma City<\/a> would not take part in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes that will dominate the summertime conversation, but this sort of stunning finish is enough to re-spark that conversation,” Sam Amick of The Athletic reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Nothing should be off the table when the end goal wasn’t reached. There has long been chatter about the Thunder having interest in Cleveland big man Evan Mobley as well, but Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman insisted in an end-of-season news conference that Mobley wasn’t going anywhere.”<\/p>\n

Mobley and Antetokounmpo are completely different players, though there’s reason to believe that either of them could work out in Oklahoma City. However, comparing Mobley and Antetokounmpo would be completely unfair to the two-time MVP Award winner, as they’re not in the same stratosphere as players.<\/p>\n

Interestingly enough, however, I do think there’s a world where Mobley could be a really good fit in Oklahoma City, and we’ll have to see how that plays out if it happens.<\/p>\n
