Luka Doncic<\/a> are said by some fans as the modern version of Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird<\/a>. One main reason is because the are both white. The argument is that they can both light it up on any corners of the court.<\/p>\n

Other people are pointing out that Doncic is a better player skills-wise. They argue that the game these days is much better and complicated. The Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> star still does not have a championship but when it comes to personal numbers, he got the Celtics legend beaten.<\/p>\n

Bird\u2019s teammate and equally legendary Celtics player Kevin McHale is not a fan of such argument<\/a>. He explained that Bird has better qualities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are the same dudes that can\u2019t guard Luka Doncic, and Luka Doncic is lighting them up,\u201d McHale said a phone call interview with the \u201cBoston Globe\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also said that his Larry, his teammate for 12 seasons is bigger, stronger, faster, and meaner\u201d than the Lakers star and \u201cif Luka is lighting these dudes up, it\u2019d be a five-alarm fire what Larry would do.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

McHale said he found those people pushing for Doncic over Bird laughable.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just laugh at these people today,\u201d he added. \u201cLarry would go by you a hell of a lot faster than Luka would go by you. He was a straight-line driver, and he was also just a horse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another Luka Doncic, Larry Bird similarity<\/p>\n

Doncic got involved in several controversies this season for his trash talk. There\u2019s one when Dennis Schroder<\/a> almost tried to punch him in the parking lot<\/a> after the game between the Lakers and the Sacramento Kings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Goga Bitadze<\/a> of the Orlando Magic<\/a> accused him back in March<\/a> of going overboard during their word war.<\/p>\n

That is just another similarity between him and Bird who is regarded by many of his contemporaries as the greatest trashtalker they faced.<\/a><\/p>\n

For now, Doncic has more to prove.
