{"id":759450,"date":"2026-06-12T21:12:24","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T21:12:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/759450\/"},"modified":"2026-06-12T21:12:24","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T21:12:24","slug":"jeremy-lin-carmelo-anthony-end-their-14-year-knicks-feud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/759450\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeremy Lin, Carmelo Anthony end their 14-year Knicks feud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Knicks teammates Carmelo Anthony and Jeremy Lin said they hashed out 14 years of unanswered questions and false narratives after \u201cLinsanity\u201d\u00a0took over New York in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>During Friday\u2019s installment of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VhcVbHqRXyQ\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201c7PM in Brooklyn\u201d podcast,<\/a> Lin \u2014 whose rise to fame during the 2011-12 season sparked rumors that Anthony was jealous of his success \u2014 explained that the pair had an \u201chonest and direct\u201d conversation and finally reconciled. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically I asked every last question I had: \u2018did that happen? What happened there? What happened here?\u2019\u201d Lin said. \u201cBut it was honest. It was direct, it was honest and we were able to definitely clear the air. And so the narratives come, but to be able to talk it out, I appreciate that. And so my biggest thing was when I think back on my career, because I recently retired [last August], I\u2019ve never wanted my story to be me versus anybody else, which we had talked about. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I think at the end of all of this, if my name comes up or my story comes up and it\u2019s me versus [Carmelo] or if we\u2019re ever at a point where someone has to choose sides, then I think we failed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anthony, who publicly<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/19\/sports\/carmelo-anthony-invites-jeremy-lin-on-podcast-to-address-knicks-beef\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> invited Lin to be a guest <\/a>on his \u201c7PM In Brooklyn\u201d podcast to \u201cclear the air\u201d last month, explained that it took him some time before he felt ready to answer Lin\u2019s questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese was questions that was built up for 14 years that other people probably was adding on to your pressures and your mindset and your perspective,\u201d Anthony said. \u201cIt took me to go through what I went through to have the time to come back and be at peace with being able to answer all your questions with actual facts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin and Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony looks on against the Atlanta Hawks in the second quarter of their NBA basketball game at Madison Square Garden in New York, February 22, 2012. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>There were rumblings of a reported feud between the pair during the rise of \u201cLinsanity\u201d after Lin was called up during the 2011-12 season.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Lin led the Knicks to 10 wins in 13 games when he averaged over 22 points and nine assists.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony was dealing with a groin injury at the time. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cForget being jealous of what he\u2019s doing, I want him to keep going.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Melo gets real about the narrative that he envied Jeremy Lin&#8217;s rise to fame \ud83d\udc40 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/BVmTEpUImL\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/BVmTEpUImL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 7PM in Brooklyn (@7PMinBrooklyn) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/7PMinBrooklyn\/status\/2065464987317846259?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">June 12, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lin\u2019s popularity rose to the point where he couldn\u2019t leave his apartment in New York City without being swarmed by paparazzi, he was the subject of<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/10\/sports\/jeremy-lin-reveals-truth-behind-kim-kardashian-rumors\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Kim Kardashian dating rumors<\/a> and he turned down the cover of GQ magazine.<\/p>\n<p>After the 2011-12 season, Anthony made waves when he called Lin\u2019s Houston Rockets contract offer \u2014 three years and $25 million \u2014 \u201cridiculous,\u201d which led to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/8180308\/nba-jeremy-lin-six-degrees-separation-family\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reports<\/a>\u00a0that he was jealous of Lin\u2019s fast success and it was disrupting what he was trying to build in New York.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony addressed his \u201cridiculous\u201d remark, saying that Lin deserved for the Knicks to match his offer from Houston instead of letting him walk over luxury tax concerns. <\/p>\n<p>New York Knicks\u2019 Carmelo Anthony (7) talks to teammate Jeremy Lin (17) during the first half of an NBA basketball game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in New York.  AP<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou got to think from my perspective, everything kind of came and went so fast and now I\u2019m not on the Knicks anymore,\u201d Lin said on the \u201c7PM in Brooklyn,\u201d a Wave Original. \u201cAnd after that, I hear publicly a coach saying something and three teammates saying stuff publicly about like, \u2018Oh, Linsanity didn\u2019t vibe with everybody in the locker room.\u2019 And so I\u2019m like, \u2018You got to think, Melo, I\u2019m hearing this and I\u2019m trying to piece together the story.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anthony also pushed back on the narrative that he was jealous of Lin during \u201cLinsanity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to figure my s\u2013t. I was injured. I was hurt,\u201d Anthony said of the \u201cLinsanity\u201d era. \u201cI had to think about how fast I\u2019m going to come back, what I\u2019m going to do, how the f\u2013k I\u2019m going to go help this team, how I got to lead this team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m in a different position than [Jeremy] is. So I got to deal with a whole bunch of s\u2013t. Forget being jealous of what [Jeremy\u2019s] doing. I want him to keep going. Game win in D.C. Yo, keep going. Toronto.
