{"id":765682,"date":"2026-06-20T05:57:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T05:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/765682\/"},"modified":"2026-06-20T05:57:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T05:57:13","slug":"draft-notes-big-boards-peterson-brown-ament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/765682\/","title":{"rendered":"Draft Notes: Big Boards, Peterson, Brown, Ament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/46886245\/2026-nba-draft-big-board-rankings-top-100-prospects-players\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jeremy Woo of ESPN.com<\/a> has made a major change to his final big board ahead of next week\u2019s draft, ranking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/darryn-peterson-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Darryn Peterson<\/a> at No. 1 ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/aj-dybantsa-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">AJ Dybantsa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Peterson was Woo\u2019s preseason choice as the top 2026 prospect, so he\u2019s technically reclaiming the No. 1 spot after Dybantsa leapfrogged him during the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n<p>Learning more about Peterson, the context of his \u201cstrange season\u201d at Kansas, and NBA teams\u2019 comfort level with his medicals made Woo reverse course and put the 19-year-old back at No. 1. Woo suggests he rates Peterson and Dybantsa pretty similarly, but Peterson ultimately got the nod for the top spot due to his superior shot-making and potential to be \u201cone of the best guards\u201d in the NBA.<\/p>\n<p>The 3-to-12 spots on Woo\u2019s board remain unchanged, with the next adjustments coming in the teens.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s more on the 2026 draft:<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theringer.com\/nba-draft\/2026\/big-board#content\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">J. Kyle Mann of The Ringer<\/a> has also updated his big board, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/cameron-boozer-3.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cameron Boozer<\/a> coming in at No. 1, followed by Peterson, Dybantsa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/caleb-wilson-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Caleb Wilson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/keaton-wagler-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Keaton Wagler<\/a>. Mann is significantly higher than Woo on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/brayden-burries-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brayden Burries<\/a> (No. 6 vs. No. 11 at ESPN), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/jayden-quaintance-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jayden Quaintance<\/a> (No. 10 vs. No. 22), <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/henri-veesaar-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Henri Veesaar<\/a> (No. 19 vs. No. 28) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/baba-miller-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Baba Miller<\/a> (No. 24 vs. No. 34), and substantially lower than Woo on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/nate-ament-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nate Ament<\/a> (No. 20 vs. No. 9 at ESPN), <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/mikel-brown-jr-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mikel Brown Jr.<\/a> (No. 12 vs No. 7) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/aday-mara-2.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_cbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Aday Mara<\/a> (No. 15 vs No. 10), among others. The biggest difference between the boards is Mann has a second-round grade (No. 36) on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/international\/players\/karim-lopez-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Karim Lopez<\/a>, whom Woo has No. 14.<br \/>\nAppearing on The Zach Lowe Show (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theringer.com\/podcasts\/the-zach-lowe-show\/2026\/06\/19\/whos-the-top-pick-plus-giannis-trade-and-most-interesting-offseasons\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">link via The Ringer<\/a>), Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress said he\u2019s long had Peterson at the top of his draft board and has long <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/06\/wizards-deciding-between-dybantsa-peterson-jazz-wont-get-workout-with-kansas-guard.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">expected<\/a> the Wizards to give him <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/06\/wizards-giving-increased-consideration-to-drafting-peterson-no-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">serious consideration<\/a> at No. 1. Givony admitted he hasn\u2019t been digging into how the team specifically views Peterson, but noted that Washington tends to be secretive about its selection process. Givony is also excited to see what happens with no consensus top pick, comparing it to 2022, when the Magic unexpectedly took <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/banchpa01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Paolo Banchero<\/a> after being linked to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/smithja05.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-19_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jabari Smith Jr.<\/a> in the lead-up to that draft.<br \/>\nIn <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/andscape.com\/features\/for-mikel-brown-jr-his-name-means-everything-ahead-of-nba-draft\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">two<\/a> separate <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/andscape.com\/features\/nate-ament-believes-he-has-best-upside-in-2026-nba-draft\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">stories<\/a> for Andscape, Marc J. Spears interviews Brown, Ament, and their fathers ahead of Sunday\u2019s holiday. \u201cI\u2019ve got probably the best upside in the draft,\u201d Ament told Andscape on May 11. \u201cI\u2019m not even scratching the surface of the player I can be. Ever since I started playing basketball, every year I\u2019ve gotten better and better.
