SALT LAKE CITY,\u00a0 Utah, June 3, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A Layton<\/a> lawmaker is threatening legislation after Utah’s three major sports franchises posted support for the LGBTQ<\/a> community’s Pride Month.<\/p>\n

Rep. Trevor Lee, R-Layton, reacted with the threat after the Utah Jazz<\/a> basketball team, the Utah Mammoth<\/a> hockey club and soccer’s Real Salt Lake<\/a> all posted supportive messages online Sunday as Pride Month<\/a> begins.<\/p>\n

“Utahns overwhelmingly don’t support pride month,” the second-term Republican serving House District 16 said on X, formerly known as Twitter.<\/p>\n

Calling Utahns the world’s kindest people, he wrote that they are “taken advantage of” for that reason.<\/p>\n

“Nothing makes Utahns more mad when political ideologies get pushed into their lives. And even worse, having taxes prop up these ideologies.<\/p>\n

“Watch for some significant legislation this next session that pushes back onto these woke groups!”<\/p>\n

The Mammoth post said simply “Happy Pride” and “Tusks Up” and included the Mammoth icon in LGBTQ pride colors. The Jazz post called for love and support for the LGBTQ community “as we work to foster a safer and more inclusive space for all.” Both are owned by the Smith Entertainment Group now involved in a tax-supported downtown redevelopment project.<\/p>\n

Real Salt Lake, owned by Miller Sports, posted: “Proud to celebrate Pride. Together we support and recognize the LGBTQIA+ community this month and always.”<\/p>\n
