The Second Team All-NBA performer is now headed to Philadelphia after 10 seasons with the Celtics, and one has to believe he is going to be a key piece in the team’s push to win its first title since 1983.

With that said, it is fair to question how Brown is going to fit in with this group. Here are three questions that immediately come to mind as Philadelphia moves forward:

1. How does Brown adjust to taking a step back?

Brown had a usage percentage of 36.2% in 2025-26 as the No. 1 option for Boston with Jayson Tatum sidelined. He went on to average a robust 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. He shot 47.7% from the floor and 34.7% from deep in 71 games. He made it no secret that this was his “favorite” season as he was able to show off everything he can bring to the floor. Now, he has to adjust.

It makes sense that Brown’s usage was that high with Tatum sidelined, but how will he adjust playing next to Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid? Maxey’s usage percentage was at 29.8% in 2024-25 and 29.4% in 2025-26 while Embiid’s usage has never been below 32.9% in his career. While Brown was always going to have to adjust in 2026-27 with Tatum returning for the Celtics, one has to wonder how is he going to do it now with two high-usage players around him.

Need a news break? Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles, games and more!2. How does Brown fit into the offense?

The good news is that Brown is one of the higher-IQ players in the league. While he does have a tendency to take some tough shots, he has the talent to knock them down. There have been plenty of times he was able to bail out the Celtics with a shot over multiple defenders off the dribble and with the shot clock winding down. Per the NBA’s tracking stats, he shot 48.8% when taking 7-plus dribbles (5.3 attempts per night) and 49.6% when taking 3-to-6 dribbles (8.6 attempts).

That type of ability can make life easier for both Maxey and Embiid on the offensive end. Having Brown on the floor makes defenders have to choose when it comes to shading help towards a certain player on each possession. The Sixers were able to snag Dean Wade in free agency, who has an incredibly low usage rate and can knock down an open 3, and his presence should make life easier for Philadelphia in finding that offensive flow. When one of the five starters doesn’t need the ball, it makes it easier for the coaching staff to find shots for the main pieces.

3. What can Brown do for VJ Edgecombe?

Now, a real question is whether Brown’s ball dominance will hinder the development of VJ Edgecombe. The young guard is looking to build off an impressive rookie season, and adding someone like Brown could slow him down a bit, but it remains to be seen how the two of them will be able to co-exist around guys like Maxey and Embiid as well. Edgecombe’s usage was at 20.1% as a rookie, but that number figures to go down with Brown’s presence and relegate him to a lesser role. One has to wonder if the Sixers can continue to get Edgecombe the opportunities he needs to develop and be the player they want him to be.

With that being said, the Brown addition is a home run for this group and Philadelphia will be looking to make it all work. Led by coach Nick Nurse, the staff will have to find ways to make it all flow and come together on the floor.

July 4, 2026, 4:06 p.m. ET The Philadelphia 76ers pulled off a stunner in the offseason when they…

[3769
679,72400,7,6,678,207,3817,91010,72473,72474,72404,72444,72422,72445,72475,72406,72477,72403
post-778680","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-philadelphia-76ers","tag-76ers","tag-accessfree","tag-basketball","tag-nba","tag-philadelphia","tag-philadelphia-76ers","tag-philadelphia76ers","tag-sourcesixers-wire","tag-sstssportsnbasixers","tag-sstsnsixers","tag-tagbasketball","tag-tagnational-sports","tag-tagnba","tag-tagoverall-neutral","tag-tagphiladelphia-76ers","tag-tagsports-news","tag-tagtyrese-maxey","tag-typestory
["GET
