That journey got real on Saturday in Oweh\u2019s pro basketball debut on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Summer League action is underway in Salt Lake City. Oweh made a splash in his debut.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Otega Oweh putting his two-way impact on display \ud83d\udcaf<\/p>\n<p>The Thunder\u2019s second round pick is showing off at the Salt Lake City Summer League! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zDBmKKSWUj\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/zDBmKKSWUj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NBA (@NBA) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NBA\/status\/2073498810802721185?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">July 4, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Memphis rolled to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba-summer-league\/boxscore\/_\/gameId\/401879920\/league\/nba-summer-utah\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">111-74 victory<\/a>, but Otega Oweh made a solid first impression. The former Oklahoma transfer and New Jersey native finished the game with eight points on seven shot attempts with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 25 minutes. Oweh appeared in the starting lineup along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/brooks-barnhizer-15254\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brooks Barnhizer<\/a> (Northwestern), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/josh-dix-67023\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Dix<\/a> (Creighton), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/aday-mara-179483\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aday Mara<\/a> (Michigan), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/bennett-stirtz-246747\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bennett Stirtz<\/a> (Iowa).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/otega-oweh-94709\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Otega Oweh<\/a> transferred to Kentucky for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/coach\/mark-pope-132332\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Pope<\/a>\u2019s debut season in 2024-25. The 6-foot-5 guard went on to earn back-to-back All-SEC Second Team honors. Oweh scored 1,255 total points as a Wildcat. He tested the draft waters last offseason before returning to UK as a senior. Oweh posted 18.6 points on .465\/.333\/.731 shooting splits with 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 steals in 32.8 minutes per game as a senior. Oweh started all 72 games he played for Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky\u2019s latest draft pick will be surrounded by some familiar faces as he moves back to Oklahoma. Oweh has joined a title contender where former Kentucky guards in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/shai-gilgeous-alexander-106215\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a>\u00a0(the two-time defending MVP) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/cason-wallace-19164\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cason Wallace<\/a>\u00a0are entrenched. <\/p>\n<p>The rookie will be looking to earn a spot on the Thunder\u2019s regular season roster during Summer League.
