The offer sheet figures to come out of Memphis\u2019 $15MM non-taxpayer mid-level exception. Assuming Post officially signs by 12:00 pm ET on Monday, the Warriors will have until 11:59 pm ET Tuesday to decide whether to match.<\/p>\n

Golden State has been \u201cbracing\u201d for a Post offer sheet for several days, sources tell Jake Fischer of The Stein Line (Twitter link<\/a>). ESPN\u2019s Anthony Slater (Twitter link<\/a>) adds that the Warriors like having Post as a backup center, but they may decide his new price tag is too steep to match. The team is navigating a probable second-apron hard cap, still needs to negotiate a new deal with Draymond Green<\/a>, and remains in pursuit of LeBron James<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Warriors made Post a restricted free agent a week ago by issuing him a qualifying offer<\/a> worth roughly $2.65MM. Jake Fischer and Marc Stein reported a couple days later<\/a> that an offer sheet was a possibility for the big man.<\/p>\n

Offer sheets have become an increasingly rare way of doing business in the NBA over the past few years, notes Bobby Marks of ESPN (Twitter link<\/a>). He points out that the last player to sign an offer sheet worth more than $5MM per season was Matisse Thybulle<\/a> with Dallas in 2023, and the last time an offer sheet wasn\u2019t matched was in 2020 when Bogdan Bogdanovic<\/a> went from Sacramento to Atlanta.<\/p>\n

Post developed into a reliable backup big man and part-time starter for the Warriors after being selected with the 52nd pick in the 2024 draft. In 67 games this season (35 starts), he averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per night while shooting 44% from the field and 33.6% from three-point range.<\/p>\n

Post projects to be a floor-stretching backup to Zach Edey<\/a> in Memphis if the Warriors don\u2019t match the offer sheet.
