We know the Minnesota Timberwolves want LeBron James<\/a>. They\u2019ve made that clear, not just to his agent Rich Paul, but to every NBA reporter who wants to know.<\/p>\n To this point, it looks like there are give or take six teams that have at least caught LeBron\u2019s attention, the Wolves being one of them. While I\u2019m not convinced Minnesota was on his radar originally, they\u2019ve done enough recruiting to have at least entered the chat<\/a>.<\/p>\n We have yet to hear from LeBron, and even Rich Paul was careful to talk much about direct intel from conversations he has had with his superstar client on who he will play for next.<\/p>\n The main draw is an opportunity to play with Anthony Edwards and fill out a team that, with LeBron James, would immediately become an NBA Finals contender in the Western Conference, especially after LaMelo Ball was brought in to distribute the basketball\u2026 or maybe not.<\/p>\n Windy doubting LeBron\u2019s willingness to play with LaMelo Ball<\/p>\n On Monday, during an appearance on Pardon My Take<\/a>, Brian Windhorst (ESPN)<\/a> was asked how serious Minnesota is as a LeBron suitor. First he gave the Ant + Team USA connection some credence\u2026<\/p>\n From there, however, Windhorst couldn\u2019t have made his skepticism over LeBron + Minnesota connection more apparent. And No. 1 on his list of doubts, (the only one he mentioned specifically) was the idea that LeBron would welcome playing alongside LaMelo Ball. I don\u2019t know how LeBron would do with LaMelo. Like, I think LaMelo hoisting up 35 footers in transition with 18 seconds on the clock, he might look side eye at that.\u201c<\/p>\n \u201cTrust me, he\u2019s definitely had some guys who were crazy on his teams over the years. Listen, again, if you look me straight in the eye and say, \u2018I want to play with Ant Edwards, that will be happiness, I ain\u2019t trying to talk you out of that.\u201d<\/p>\n Brian Windhorst \u2013 Pardon My Take<\/a><\/p>\n Related: MN Timberwolves Sign Some Frontcourt Help<\/a><\/p>\n LaMelo was on Rich Paul\u2019s infamous white board<\/a> over the weekend, as a reason why James might ultimately choose the Timberwolves, so it\u2019s possible Windhorst is completely wrong on this take.<\/p>\n How much should we read into this?<\/p>\n However, I find it hard to believe he\u2019d come out with such strong feelings against a LaMelo + LeBron + Minnesota Timberwolves pairing if it wasn\u2019t being substantiated behind the scenes to some extent.<\/p>\n Windy said he doesn\u2019t have steam directly from LeBron James, and neither does anyone else, from the sounds of it.
