Sorrentine told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7445514\/2026\/07\/14\/aj-dybantsa-nba-summer-league-status-wizards\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Athletic&#8217;s Josh Robbins<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Wizards are also holding out second-year wings Will Riley and Tre Johnson for the remainder of Summer League competition.<\/p>\n<p>Dybantsa, the first overall pick of the draft, was impressive in his two appearances in a Wizards uniform. He scored 27 points and hauled in seven rebounds in his Summer League debut against the Utah Jazz. He followed that up with a 23-point outing versus the Sacramento Kings.<\/p>\n<p>Washington is confident that Dybantsa doesn&#8217;t have much else to prove following the Las Vegas exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a culmination of camp all the way through the games,&#8221; Sorrentine said. &#8220;It&#8217;s not just what (everyone&#8217;s) seen on TV. We&#8217;ve had a good camp, a lot of good practices and shootarounds, and a couple of good games.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dybantsa emerged as one of the top prospects in the nation last season during his lone season at BYU. He led Division I in scoring, averaging 25.5 points per contest.<\/p>\n<p>The rookie sensation will now turn his focus to the 2026-27 regular season.
