\n\tThe first public glimpse of Lil Wayne<\/a>\u2019s upcoming Tha Carter VI album will be heard on ESPN<\/a>. \u201cThe Days,\u201d a collaboration between the iconic rapper (and May Rolling Stone cover star<\/a>) and U2\u2019s Bono, is the theme song of the NBA<\/a> Finals\u2019 promotional ad for the first day of the championship series<\/a>, which will feature a game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers. The network has previously played his \u201cI Am Not a Human Being,\u201d \u201cUproar,<\/a>\u201d and \u2018Glory\u201d tracks in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the Finals ad, highlights of both teams are interspersed with Wayne rapping bars like, \u201clive to fight another day if yesterday beat me, cause I ain\u2019t gettin\u2019 younger, but I\u2019m gettin\u2019 better\u201d while Bono sings, \u201cthese are the days.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBasketball\u2019s been in my blood since day one, so to team up with ESPN less than 24 hours before the drop of Tha Carter VI for the NBA Finals<\/a> is an incredible honor,\u201d Wayne, who just announced a North American tour<\/a>, says about the campaign. \u201cMy music and the NBA are vibin\u2019 on the same frequency because it\u2019s perfect timing for fans to hear Tha Carter VI on the game\u2019s grandest stage.\u201d The campaign is yet another intersection of sports and music for the avid sports fan and co-founder of Young Money APAA Sports Agency, which represents several NBA players.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tTha Carter VI is Wayne\u2019s 14th studio album, and the first since 2023\u2019s Welcome 2 ColleGrove with 2 Chainz. Wayne played Rolling Stone songs from the project in January, including \u201cThe Days,\u201d an introspective track where he reflects on his life and times. He told Rolling Stone that the project is collaboration-oriented, noting, \u201cIf there\u2019s one thing about this album that\u2019s different, it\u2019s me approaching it like, \u2018Man, what would I sound like on something with such and such.\u201d He\u2019ll be celebrating Tha Carter VI\u2019s launch with the ESPN campaign as well as his first-ever headlining concert at Madison Square Garden<\/a> on June 6, the album\u2019s release date.\u00a0<\/p>\n
