The 76ers waived Dalen Terry on Sunday, a precursor to clear roster space for LeBron James and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.<\/p>\n
James on Friday announced his intention to sign with the 76ers on a two-year deal, the first at the veteran minimum and the second a player option. Caldwell-Pope negotiated a buyout from his deal with Memphis, reportedly with the intent of joining his former Lakers teammate LeBron in Philly.<\/p>\n
The Phillies need cap space under the first apron, and the first way to get there is by waiving Terry.<\/p>\n
Terry appeared in 14 games as a 76er, averaging 4.1 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 12.4 minutes. He was picked up after being waived by the Bulls, where he spent his first three and a half seasons after Chicago took him with the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 draft.<\/p>\n
Terry was signed to a two-way contract on Feb. 10, then converted to a standard contract on April 10 so he could be available for the postseason after Cam Payne\u2019s injury. The team exercised an option for the 2026-27 season on June 29.<\/p>\n
The 76ers need one more move to facilitate its acquisitions.
