He’s no slouch on the offensive end of the floor, either. Although he’ll need to improve in his ability to attack closeouts and consistency as a catch-and-shoot scorer, he averaged 18.6 points and 46.5% from the field during his final season at Kentucky. He was limited to two appearances in Summer League<\/a> by a lower leg injury, but it’s easy to imagine he would’ve flashed some of those abilities in Las Vegas if he’d had the chance.<\/p>\n In terms of two-way prospects, there isn’t a much better fit for the Thunder at this juncture.<\/p>\n It’s also important to note that Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins are now off the roster. Cason Wallace or Ajay Mitchell will step into Dort’s starting spot, while Jared McCain will take on much of the perimeter-shooting responsibilities that those wings did. Bennett Stirtz will also have a chance to become a real rotational contributor during his rookie campaign.<\/p>\n But the door is at least cracked for Oweh to prove himself as a potential contributor in 2026-27. If he can hit his perimeter shots consistently and carve out at least peripheral role in the rotation, perhaps Oklahoma City will want to carry him into the postseason as an additional depth piece on the wing.<\/p>\n Beyond that, the Thunder also likely won’t be looking to make a move\u2014 even with the trade exception in their back pocket\u2014 unless it’s absolutely the right one. The McCain trade was a worthwhile swing, and if another opportunity like that pops up, expect Sam Presti to leap at the opportunity. <\/p>\n But until that happens, the door remains open, however slightly, for Oweh to prove himself and claim that roster spot late in the regular season. While there aren’t any real winners of the failed gamble on Jones, Oweh is the closest to resembling one.<\/p>\n
