{"id":800590,"date":"2026-07-31T19:24:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T19:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/800590\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T19:24:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T19:24:14","slug":"dwane-casey-to-remain-with-pistons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/800590\/","title":{"rendered":"Dwane Casey To Remain With Pistons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After receiving serious interest from BC Roma SPQR, the new Italian team co-founded by former Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson, Dwane Casey has withdrawn from the club\u2019s head coaching search and will remain in his position as an adviser with the Pistons, reports Marc Stein of The Stein Line (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheSteinLine\/status\/2083257741292736622\" rel=\"nofollow\">Twitter link<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>BC Roma SPQR, whose ownership group also includes Mavericks star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/doncilu01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-07-31_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Luka Doncic<\/a>, will compete in Italy\u2019s domestic league and the EuroCup in 2026\/27 while bidding to join NBA Europe for \u201927\/28. The team was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/07\/dwane-casey-under-consideration-to-coach-potential-nba-europe-franchise.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said to be<\/a> pursuing Casey for its coaching job while also having <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/07\/and-ones-contract-details-stotts-fois-summer-league-more.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">expressed interest<\/a> in veteran NBA coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/stottte01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-07-31_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Terry Stotts<\/a> and Knicks assistant Riccardo Fois.<\/p>\n<p>One <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportando.basketball\/en\/bc-roma-spqr-reportedly-reaches-agreement-with-dwane-casey\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">recent report<\/a> claimed that Casey and BC Roma SPQR had reached an agreement, but Stein says that\u2019s not the case.<\/p>\n<p>Casey, who worked with Nelson in Dallas from 2008-11, has a 494-570 (.464) overall regular season record as the head coach of the Timberwolves, Raptors, and Pistons.
