While they have grown apart, their divorce is amicable and their relationship remains a strong, professional partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40145754\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/ny-liberty-majority-owners-joe-92297837.jpg\" alt=\"NY Liberty owners Joe and Clara Wu Tsai speaking at a ticker tape parade.\" class=\"wp-image-40145754\"  \/>Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai at the 2024 Liberty ticker-tape parade in New York City Stephen Yang for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>The statement also addressed the arrangement with the couple\u2019s business ventures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoe will remain Chairman and Clara will remain Vice Chair of Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment,\u201d it read. \u201cJoe will remain Governor of the Brooklyn Nets and Clara will remain Governor of the New York Liberty. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will continue to own and be stewards of the teams with professional management in place as they always have. In the long run, they also plan to involve their children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joe and Clara have three adult children: Dash, Alex and Jacob. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no plans to sell any Alibaba shares and Joe\u2019s role as Alibaba Chairman is not affected by this development,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoe and Clara remain deeply committed to continuing their existing philanthropic and community work. They are both driven by the best interests of their family, businesses, and communities, and are dedicated to continue working together as partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple acquired full ownership of the Nets and Liberty in 2019 for $2.35 billion, which was the most expensive purchase of an American sports franchise at the time. <\/p>\n<p>They had obtained a 49 percent stake the year prior.
